The outrage over Akshay Kumar winning the prestigious National Award for his performance in ‘Rustom’, has been questioned by Priyadarshan – the chairperson of the feature film section for the National Film Awards.
Questioning the selective outrage, the ‘Hera Pheri’ director said “I have heard of all that and I will answer it in a simple way. When Ramesh Sippy was jury head Amitabh Bachchan won. When Prakash Jha was head of the jury, Ajay Devgn won. None questioned at that time. So why all these questions are cropping up today?”
The director also said the National Award for Akshay Kumar recognised his performance in both Airlift and Rustom – but since the rule book required the jury to pick just one film, Rustom was mentioned in the list of award winners.
“Akshay was given the best actor on the basis of his performance in two films – Airlift and Rustom. It was the jury’s decision. One performance was dramatic and one was realistic. But according to the rule book, only one film can be mentioned and Rustom was mentioned in the list. But the award recognises his performance in both the movies”
On Friday, Akshay Kumar, one of the biggest names in the industry today, joined a elite list of mainstream actors who have found recognition from the National Awards – which is considered by many to be the most credible film award in the country.
I loved bhahrangi bhai jaan but not national award type film. Among the khans only srk, aamir and saif deserve to win, but competition is so tough as it’s not just restricted to Bollywood films only, Akshay happened to of luck on his side, Rustom as a movie was not spectacular, it alright film and cud of been better had neeraj pandey directed himself or someone like keshyp but akkis acting as naval officer was perfect and he won it on that basis
After Saif Ali Khan For Hum Tum now Akshy Kumar For Rustam this is proved That Indias Biggest Crrupt and Fake Award is only National Award. ……

When Srk buy awards then nobody questions but when this time Akki wins then everybody questions.

Show us your face first if you have worth looking at. I dare you. 2ndly, you don’t need to worry about aamir? What aamir has acted in dangal, gobar kumar can only dream to act even 0.01% of that. Aamir in rustom would look far better and more convincing than oldie akshay. Akshay is mediocre actor and never has he acted anything great in any film even his best performance so far in airlift is very average compared to aamir’s performance in dangal. Aamir would look far better in Navy uniform than a clown like akshay. And I am not aamir fan. I am neutral fan. So shut your tiny worthless mouth and get a life.

Akki has won it for RUSTOM , not for AIRLIFT! Priyadarshan has given 7-8 different excuses over it among which considering Airlift is one.
And obviously Priyadarshan’ s statements have cleared everything.

Yes Akshay deserved it for Airlift if I am to be frank though had Salman or A amir had won for Sultan and Dangal I would have been also happy and agree with it!!
I have not yet watched Rustom but since they said they considered Airlift which was a strange decision…I concur with it had they not clarified about Airlift I would have stayed mum and quite.

SRK if you read my comment deserved National(not petty Filmfare) for CDI and MNIK… I dont talk about Film fares…they are based on invitations and performance which everyone knows that does not mean all are but majority.
SRK I rate him along side Ajay and A amir as an excellent and gifted actor that was why I mentioned my remorse for him not winning National award for CDI and MNIK.

I have objection of Saif because only 1 movie was considered and that was Hum tum. At least I watched the movie and never ever thought Saif would win best actor Filmfare for Hum tum let alone National!!
I have objection on Amitabh sir Piku. The movie it was more of a female essentric movie and I did not see anything special. Salman was the top contender for that year then Akshay either of the 2 but not Amitabh.
I get lots of sticks from Akshay fans whenever it comes to Ajay Devgn you know them….This was the time to mock at him and join everyone and disagree but I did not that alone should give you a more clearer picture of me. Deep inside me I know if 1 childish Akshay fan bashes Ajay then 9/10 deep in them acknowledges him. So am not supporting Akshay cos I am his fan no I am just being real ,myself irrespective of what his fans will still continue bashing not only Ajay but almost all the Senior actors. @aisha now that it has been clarified by I nd I cine that its impossible for 2 movies to be looked into but Pryadarshan said Airlift was considered and you yesterday said if Airlift was not consider you will not agree with National award given to Akshay. You have not watched Rustom but from people comment you should know Airlift was better than Rustom. So what is your take now? Remember indicine clarified its Rustom only Pfiyadarshan was giving fake excuses. So does Akshay now deserve?

To be honest not many were concerned about National awards all these years. There have been many surprised winners (fixed) instead of deserved winners in the past too. Now why to cry for poor Akki when he got one? Some people still had faith in National awards which is lost now like any other popular awards. Madhavan’s acting in Saala Khadoos was way better that Aamir in Dangal.

Dharmendra was never acknowledged as an actor – he was one of the best. All awards shows are biased but I definitely am glad that one award committee went against all others and awarded Akshay.
