Happy Ending has opened to a very poor response at the domestic box office. The opening is so low that even if the film manages to show good growth on Sunday, it will still fail to recover its costs.
The film collected Rs 3.92 crore on Friday, which is more than 60% lower than the opening day business of Saif Ali Khan’s last film Humshakals. With such a poor opening, Saturday was always going to be crucial for a multiplex targeted film like Happy Ending. But even some high end multiplexes were running at around 35-40% occupancy on Saturday night. At mass centres, where Saif Ali Khan films always get a lukewarm response, Happy Ending was a complete washout.
Reports from theatres on Sunday are pretty poor too, so the film should collect around 5 cr on Sunday to take its first weekend total to around 13.5 crore. To put that into perspective, Humshakals collected Rs 14.36 crore on its first Sunday, Rs 37 crore in its first weekend and finished with lifetime business of around 56 cr. Happy Ending is likely to end its run below the 25 crore mark, making it one of the biggest disasters of 2014.

Sad Ending
Saif is almost finished now. None of his films is having any impact on audience. He is not able to get over rom-coms. We want Langda tyagi kind of hard hitting act from him but may he is not capable of it anymore. Even these collections are due to Govinda who is the only good part of this film. Since he has got married to Kareena kapoor his bad luck is on big high as no movie is doing well.
An advice to the Nawab- Either leave Kareena or Acting.

Saif’s similar type of film Cocktail did well, but we shouldn’t forget it had a chartbuster album and Deepika, too. Happy Ending’s music wasn’t even anywhere near to that, hence the low opening, as Saif isn’t a huge star to bring in audience just by his name.
@Nikhil – This is called promotion. Humshakals was hugely promoted and had a slightly better star cast, hence, it did better than Happy Ending, even though latter film might be better than former.
Dont worry Saif. Atleast you dint do 3rd grade bhojpuri spitting and kicking kind of movie like Salman. Bhojpuri rickshawalas dont like quality movies. They like only sallus bhojpuri films.

Saif Ali Khan’s time as a solo hero is now over..he doesn’t have enough star power now to pull audience to the theatres just on his name..it all comes down to phantom..but still I don’t see any major hit in near future of saif

Why does an actor who does not like to watch Hindi movies make Hindi films? Why? Why do the people who hate eating Roti and Chawal sell them? If Saif doesn’t watch Hindi movies, how the hell can he analyse and access the tastes and likes and mindsets of the Hindi audiences?
As for Kareena, she might have said that to support her hubby! Yet, she is not the deciding factor of any big film. She is just a glamour for a film! Nothing else!
Why the hell is the name of Saif’s production house is Illuminati? Doesn’t he have any other names? Why does he keep the name of a global elite secret society that worships devils?
For God’s sake, Saif, please do not blame the director for the failure of HE! Like you did to Sajid Khan!
As for Illeana D’Cruz, had she debuted with Wanted with Salman Khan, she would have become a top heroine of the industry by today. In Barfi, Ranbir Kapoor and PC stole the show. Besides, she has also lost the opportunity to work with Salman Khan because Salman Khan hardly works with any heroine or anyone that has once rejected his offers. Illeana was supposed to star in PRDP, Salman advised Sooraj to cast Sonam instead!
Deepika too rejected Salman Khan’s films. Salman does not like to work with her though her PR agents spreads the rumors other way round. Yet, Deepika debuted with the top star of the time. It was better for her.
Last but not the least, it is really worrisome and a negative sign for Hindi Cinema that its business and incomes have started to solely depend on the shoulders of a few stars!
i think the opening day record of hny is safe till some time only salman and srk break this record but in 2015 eid is on sunday so movie realesing on friday so normal friday no chance for 45cr

aamir movies have no guts to collect 30cr in single day forgot 45 cr if they are not any big brand(dhoom,robot)

thats incredible how he is utilizing his versitility while not going after South REMAKES 100 crores South Remakes like DEVGAN.
I can watch most of those above movies except AGENT VINOD any given day. Now compare that to SINGHAM 100 crores garbage that Devgan has remade with SHITTY.
Just saw it, great movie, great acting, songs were good too. I really liked it and I don’t ever care much for bollywood films. It’s an every day life kind of movie with some nice scenes filmed in California. Good movie to watch with a date or gf/bf, not so great to watch with the family. I think its geared more towards foreign based younger modern desi’s then the ones who live across cow dung in daluchapur. I can see why it flopped based on India’s frame of mind, but for people who can relate its a fantastic movie. I for one am feel Saif is humble down to Earth person, not just an actor, two thumbs up.
