Fox Star Studios withdraws plea, Jolly LLB 2 to release this weekend

Fox Star Studios withdrawn its plea and has informed the Supreme Court of India that the makers would cut the four scenes from ‘Jolly LLB 2’, as directed by the Bombay High Court on Monday.

Fox Star Studios had moved the apex court challenging the Bombay High Court order directing that the movie be viewed by a three member committee. The order was passed by the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court.

The Bombay High Court’s Aurangabad Bench on Monday ordered deletion of four scenes from the film, which it held were defamatory to the judiciary and could amount to contempt of court.

The decision by Fox Star Studio comes a day after the lead star Akshay Kumar said that he would abide by the High Court’s decision. With less than two days to go for the release of the film, the Supreme Court watching and passing the film would’ve probably meant a delay in theatrical release.

It remains to be seen what sort of impact the four scenes could have on the flow of the film. Jolly LLB 2 releases in theatres on 10 February. It’s Akshay’s first release of the year.
