FAN has once again shown a big drop in business, as the film has fallen by 27% on Wednesday. Tuesday was a holiday for Mahavir Jayanti, so business was expected to come down, but the drop is still about 10% higher than where it should have been.
To show the downfall of the film, check out the stats below. The business of FAN has gone from record-breaking on Friday to poor levels on Wednesday.
- Friday: Records highest opening day of 2016. In fact, the opening which was primarily due to Shah Rukh Khan’s star power was 55% higher than the previous best opening day of Airlift.
- Saturday: Records highest second day of 2016. Business remains about 5% higher than Airlift.
- Sunday: Highest Sunday and Highest Weekend of 2016. But the Sunday business is only about 2% higher than Airlift.
- Monday: Crash. 3rd highest Monday after Airlift and The Jungle Book.
- Tuesday: Fails to take advantage of a holiday for Mahavir Jayanti, records 3rd highest Tuesday. Collections drop below The Jungle Book which is running in Week 2.
- Wednesday: Fourth highest 5th Day of 2016, behind Airlift, The Jungle Book and Kapoor & Sons. The Jungle Book in Week 2 continues to dominate.
The problem for FAN hasn’t been the star power of Shah Rukh Khan or other factors like genre. FAN wasn’t a completely off-beat film like ‘Swades’ either, it was meant to be a entertaining thriller with plenty of action sequences and emotions.
The bottom line is, it’s the content that hasn’t found appreciation.

@Indicine plz don’t call it a Non-Holiday release it had 3 Partial Holiday (Friday, Tuesday, Wednesday) and 1 full holiday (Sunday) in just 6 days still it is Big Flop at Box Office.
On the other hand Jai Ho is much better than FAN it had only 1 Holiday but unfortunately that falls on Sunday, so there is no holiday advantage for Jai Ho and it is pure Non Holiday release that too with low ticket price (release 2.4 year ago) still it collects 116cr (according to Indicine 112cr)…
BOI has shown its true color now as a SRK fanatic site. Till yesterday they were trying to say FAN is profitable etc. Now when it has completely crashed the culprit has suddenly shifted to genre. They have written an essay how thrillers have not performed. I doubt if they will declare FAN as flop. In this regard Appreciate Indicine reporting. They were over hyping this movie but also the first to report it as a flop.
