Sanjay Dutt who recently turned down Salman Khan’s offer to play his father, may consider himself a sale-able star but at the age of 52, Dutt is well past his prime. Apart from the Munnabhai films, Dutt’s last commercial success as a solo-star was Vaastav way back in 1999!
Hence, the poor performance of Chatur Singh Two Star that released this week, didn’t come as a big surprise. The outcome was predictable and the film opened to disastrous numbers. Made at a budget of around 15 – 17 crores (including print, publicity), Chatur Singh Two Star also starring Amisha Patel (who too is well past her prime) will suffer from huge losses for all its investors.
The opening was terrible and collections remained poor through the entire weekend. On Monday, many shows at multiplexes had to canceled due to terribly low occupancy.
Box Office Verdict – FLOP
1st Weekend Collections – 45 lakhs Friday, 45 lakhs Saturday, 55 Lakhs on Sunday. Total around 1.4 – 1.5 crores weekend (approx)
