Best Madhuri Dixit Songs: Top 10

It’s a well known fact that Madhuri Dixit Nene is the best female dancer ever in Bollywood. Also, there has been no female leading actress after her who has seen the level of stardom that Madhuri enjoyed. Undoubtedly, songs have played the most important role in shaping Madhuri’s career as the sound of clapping and whistles used to be at maximum level whenever the queen danced on the big screen. There is an unending list of Madhuri’s songs and let us celebrate her 46th birthday today by enjoying some of the memorable, evergreen and timeless songs of the longest reigning queen.

1) Ek Do Teen: Madhuri attained overnight stardom after this chartbuster number from Tezaab. The song was such a huge phenomenon that it introduced ‘Filmfare Best Choreography Award’ for the first time in 1988, which was given to Saroj Khan. Dixit’s effortless crowd pleasing dance won million hearts.

2) Maye Ni Maye: If Madhuri is exceptional in dancing, her expressions and gracious acting skills are equally brilliant to say the least. It is a very rare thing in Indian Cinema that a female actress walks away with maximum accolades in an All Time Blockbuster Movie. Dixit’s performance was extraordinary in all the songs of ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’. Watch this song for her irresistible style and screen presence.

3) Dhak Dhak: This song from blockbuster ‘Beta’ is undoubtedly the most sensuous dance number of Madhuri. Such was the popularity of this song that she was named as ‘Dhak Dhak’ girl after this. This Hindi version of Telugu song ‘Abba Nee Teeyani Debba’ is choreographed again by Saroj Khan.

4) Humpe Ye Kisne: This classic number is gracefully performed by Madhuri as she took a sabbatical from acting after the epic ‘Devdas’ in 2002. What makes this song even more special is the fact that Dixit was pregnant during the song shoot and she carried a costume weighing around 10 kg with utmost conviction.

5) Tu Shayar Hai: All the songs of ‘Saajan’ are so beautiful that it is hard to pick one. In this particular song, Madhuri danced like a dream as she slips into an array of glitzy costumes and moods to convey the state of her character, Pooja. She literally took the stage on fire in this lilting melody composed by Nadeem-Shravan. ? And, I just realized that all the 6 songs till now are from the movies which are the biggest hits of that particular year. Unbelievable!

6) Dholna: Soulful melody, stunning locales, Yash Chopra love-story, Madhuri with Shahrukh Khan – Man, Can it get bigger Again, very tough to pick from ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ songs but just for the feel of a typical Yash Raj romance, this one stands out. Madhuri’s perfection makes this catchy song all the more alluring.

7) Choli Ke Peeche: This raunchy number from ‘Khalnayak’ is one of the most popular songs of Madhuri’s career. The song was involved in controversies due to its lyrics, but the song is so gracefully performed by Madhuri that it has become a cult classic now. Dixit looked divine in her sexy choli in this song choreographed by her fav Saroj Khan yet again.

8) Akhiyaan Milaoon: Well, the movie name is ‘Raja’ but after its blockbuster success there was a demand from her fans to rename it to ‘Rani’. Madhuri, at the peak of her career, had a midas touch. When you see her dancing so much in synch with the rhythm and beats of this song, it’s hard to notice the dreadful dancing skills of her partner.

9) Kay Sera Sera: Madhuri is probably the only female actress who can manage to take more attention than Prabhudeva in a dance sequence. She showed her versatility in executing the steps choreographed by Prabhudeva in this track from the movie ‘Pukar’.

10) Aaja Nachle: Madhuri was missed so much by Bollywood from 2002 to 2007 that the biggest production house YRF decided to make a movie based on her dancing skills. It marked the return of the queen to the celluloid. The title song is a complete treat as Dixit looks elegant and blows you with her performance.

To choose only 10 from an unending list is an improbable thing. She has some exceptional dance numbers to her credit which include Mera Piya Ghar Aaya(Yaarana), Humko Aajkal Hai(Sailaab), Chane Ke Khet Mei(Anjaam), Oo Makhkhana (Bade Miyan Chote Miyan) etc. All songs of ‘Dil’ and all the other songs of ‘Saajan’, ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’ and ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ are also equally good. The list just goes on and on.

  • Ya agree with this list. Madhuri’s eternal beauty, her priceless smile, her graceful & elegant dance moves, her feministic charm, her heart&soul natural acting, her magnetic screen presence and many more simply make her the bollywood’s greatest diva. Hats off to mads!

  • Nice selection.. Thanks Abhishek.. This is the best Happy Birthday gift for Madhuri…I love all songs…. 1 2 3 awesome :) I was wondering we should have top 13 : as per first hit of her career :)

  • There are 100s of beautiful songs and dances of Madhuri. To name just 10would be unfair on the others. All the above mentioned songs are equally awesome. Madhuri is a god’s gift to Hindi cinema & it is sad that none of the actresses nowadays cannot come even close to her level of talents, dancing skills, glamour and stardom.

Wish you a very very happy b’day and may you live long!

  • My top 5 would be

    5. akhiya milaoon – madhuri is looking average but liked the place where songs picturized

  • @indicine:you have left a very heart touching song -o re piya from the movie AJA NACHLE. . . .there should be “bahut pyar karte hain tumko sanam” which was sung by the legendary anuradha paduwalji….also sason ki mala from koyla

  • OK! the list is good but it grossly missed some important dance numbers of Madhuri

    1) ‘Didi tera dewar deewana’ should have been included instead of ,Maye ni maye’ from ‘Hum Aapke hain Koun’
    2) ‘Mujhko aajkal hai intezaar, Koi leke aayega pyaar’ from ‘Sailaab’ is fabulous.
    3) ‘Tamma Tamma’ loge from ‘Thaanedaar’
    4) ‘Jo geet nahi janma woh geet banayenge’ from Sangeet

  • My all time favorates are jagaave sari raina, dheemi dheemi and the most special thing about the song is that this is sung by madhuri ji
