Actor Arjun Kapoor has begun shooting for his upcoming film – Half Girlfriend – a film based on Chetan Bhagat’s popular novel with the same name.
The film is about a Bihari boy and his quest of winning over the girl he loves. The female lead will be played by Shraddha Kapoor, who begins shooting for the film tomorrow.
“Finally, the story comes to life. Big day as ‘Half Girlfriend’ begins shoot! Mohit Suri, Arjun Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor” Bhagat tweeted on Wednesday.
Arjun, who will be playing the role of a basketball player, has been training for the film since April this year. He tweeted ”And so it begins… Half Girlfriend #basketball, Mohit Suri, Shraddha Kapoor, Let’s Play!!!”
Mohit Suri, who has previously directed films like ‘Awarapan’, ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘Ek Villain’, will be directing the film. His wife and former actress Udita Goswami tweeted ”So, finally the day is here we start a new life for the next few months where you live breathe Half Girlfriend. Own it genius! Mohit Suri”
Produced by Mohit Suri, Chetan Bhagat, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, Half Girlfriend releases in theatres on April 28 next year.
It’ll be Arjun’s first release after the success of ‘Ki and Ka’ earlier this year. Shraddha is going through a fantastic phase in her career too, what with films like ‘Aashiqui 2’, ‘Ek Villain’ (both Mohit Suri films), ‘ABCD 2’ and the more recent ‘Baaghi’ working big time at the box office.
Half Girlfriend will be a big film. It’ll release bang in the middle of the 10th season of the Indian Premiere League.

Indicine it’s not fair you tend to neglect the 2nd tier of superstar articles only Khan’s khan’s khan’s. Even Akshay Housefull 3 you people are not even giving us morning updates noon evening final day collections why? Sometimes you make us feel we are way behind the current trends compared with other movie sites.
The book was pathetic, I won’t recommend it to anyone. But it was Clear from the word go that chetan bhagat was targeting another novel adaptation with this book,as it was extremely filmy.So the film has the potential to be a decent product.Lets wait and watch!
In my opinion the book was so boring,unless in this film they do some changes,i know the music album is going to be great since it’s Mohit’s film,he has a great test in music.

When I first heard about Half Girlfriend being made into a movie I imagined Shraddha as the heroine and later she got casted in the movie .
When I was reading half girlfriend, I thought ‘This would definitely be a movie in future’. Is it just me who thinks that Chetan Bhagat is these writing books more for movie adaptions(if the book gets good response).
Arjun will overtake bhagoda in stardom and lalu in acting after the release of this movie.
