Amitabh Bachchan completes 48 years in the Hindi Film Industry

Legendary Indian Actor Amitabh Bachchan has completed nearly 5 decades in the Hindi film industry. He wrote on Wednesday night that he signed his first film – Saat Hindustani – on the 15th of February 1969.

“There is an avalanche of events related to this date – the 15th of February. On this date in 1969… I became an official entrant to the film industry, by signing my very first film, ‘Saat Hindustani’”

Inspite of completing 48 long years in the industry, the 74-year-old Bachchan is still one of the highest paid actors and continues win awards and box office rewards with films like ‘Pink’, ‘Piku’ and many others.

He was conferred with the Padma Shri in 1984, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 for his contribution to arts and the country in general.

  • Ok, great feat! But he has not been that much active since 2000 after making a comeback (Mohabbatein, KBC). Not much movies, some of his movies for whom he won awards, he did not deserved those awards, (I loved him in Mohabbatein, Khakee, Aankhein, Baghban, Black, KBC, these Piku, Pik are okayish role & did not deserve awards) there were better contenders. What’s more, there is no 100 crore movies from his side (solo), he has a set target audience, but he does not command huge box office numbers, it’s a great thing that he is still acting when compared to his era of actors (high payments not withstanding).
