PRDP becomes 2nd Highest Grosser of 2015 in 7 days

‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has beaten ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ in just 7 days to become the 2nd highest grosser of 2015. The film is behind ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ which is likely to remain the highest grosser of the year. With PRDP set to cross the 200 crore mark, the collections of his two films will be more than Rs 525 crore. The worldwide gross of his two films is likely to touch the Rs 1000 crore mark!

PRDP First Week Box Office Collections

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has collected Rs 165.45 crore in its first week at the box office, a figure that is higher than Salman Khan’s KICK, but lower than Bajrangi Bhaijaan which released earlier this year. The Hindi collections of PRDP is higher than the first week collections of Happy New Year which collected Rs 157.57 crore – including collections from all versions (Hindi, Telugu, Tamil) – which released during the same weekend last year.

Saif, Shahid, Kangana begin shooting for Rangoon: Photos

Rangoon, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, went on floors yesterday at the Mehboob Studios in Mumbai. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in the lead. Rangoon is said to be a vintage love story set in the backdrop of the Second World War that took place in the early 1940s. Both Shahid and Saif have done extremely well under Vishal’s direction, giving their career best performances in movies like ‘Omkara’ and ‘Haider’.

Ludhiana schedule of ‘Dangal’ wrapped up, Aamir’s injury didn’t affect shoot

Aamir Khan, who is playing a wrestler in his upcoming film ‘Dangal’, has wrapped up the 2-month long Ludhiana (Punjab) schedule of the film. While there were reports that the superstar had to delay the shoot because of his injury, a source close to the film has now said that his injury was blown out of proportions, both by the film’s PR machinery and the media.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Day 6 (Tuesday) Box Office Collections

Like we mentioned in our box office report last evening, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was steady on its 6th day at the box office. The film has added Rs 12 crore on Tuesday. The total collections in India now stands at Rs 155.43 crore. The first week business will be around the 165-166 crore mark and the 8-day business is likely to be in the 175 crore range.

PRDP Day 5 (Monday) Box Office Collections

Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has crashed at the box office on Monday, registering drops in the range of 25-75% across various centres on its first weekday. The first Monday business is likely to be in the 12 crore range, which was expected after the film dropped on Sunday. Mass centres are holding up well, but the big problem has come at metro cities in India. Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and other major cities like Pune, Gurgaon have registered big drops on Monday. Mangalore has come down by 85-90% from Thursday.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is set for a bigger than expected drop at the box office today, as business has come down quite significantly at multiplexes on Monday. It looks like the film is set for a total of less than 15 crore on its first weekday. PRDP had a strong extended weekend, but cracks began to appear as early as Saturday, when the ‘on-the-spot’ ticket sales decreased drastically on both Saturday and Sunday. PRDP was pulling through on strength of a good advance and also corporate bookings for the weekend.
