Meet Upyendra Limaye who is playing the role of a rangoli maker in the movie Traffic signal, hmmm bollywood is certainly getting innovative!
No, we are not talking about Dilip Prabhawalkar who played the role of Bapu to perfection in Rajkumar Hirani’s LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI last year.
Instead we are talking about a lesser known but immensely talented actor Upyendra Limaye, who played the character of a politician/don called BAPU in Ram Gopal Verma’s weakest film ever – SHIVA.
In fact Upyendra was probably the only actor in the film who managed to hold the interest of audiences whose patience was running out fast in a two hour ordeal called SHIVA.
Seen earlier in Madhur Bhandarkar’s PAGE 3 as an honest cop, he has been repeated in the director’s TRAFFIC SIGNAL. In the film, he is shown as a man who makes ‘rangoli’ on a road spot where people are expected to put in money.
An ensemble piece, TRAFFIC SIGNAL is categorized as a dark comedy by its director Madhur Bhadarkar. With 60 odd characters boasting of a well defined role for themselves in the film, TRAFFIC SIGNAL is expected to be yet another engrossing fare from the National Award winning director.
