Sultan has taken by far the best opening for a film released in 2016. The opening was bumper across all major circuits with occupancy in the high 70s in the morning. In the noon, a few single-screens witnessed minor drops, but majority of theatres that we tracked showed growth with many of them running at 85-90% occupancy.
Early trends suggest (up until 6PM), there are high chances of the film crossing the 40-41 crore mark on Day 1 (Wednesday), which would be a massive achievement considering the fact that today is a partial holiday. The first day business would then be comparable to the first day business of a film like Dhoom 3, which was a made on a much higher budget and the biggest franchise film.
Tomorrow is a holiday and multiplexes are packed with plenty of shows in the night, so the film could even manage a bigger total if multiplex business peaks (like they do on Saturday) and single-screens maintain pace.
Either way, Sultan is on course to record one of the biggest days in the history of Indian Cinema. Reports coming in from theatres are positive too, so the film could show an upward trend tomorrow, with the muslim section of the audience coming out in big numbers to watch the film.

will wrap up under 265cr without inflation. With inflation like ETT, 299 cr. (ETT grossed 185cr net acc. to BOI, but salman and YRF increased it to 199cr). The first movie to inflate collection deliberately.

It was just not a film but an event, celebration and cinematic experience. Hardly do people get to watch everything in one: laugh, emotions, motivation and entertainment. And that rare cinematic experience is called Sultan.
Sultan is a story of a common man who dreams big and works hard to earn respect before his loved one because the loved humiliated for having no ambition in life.
Sultan is a story of a common wrestler who aspires to bring gold medals for his country: India. And he successfully manages to achieves this.
But when that the common wrestlers achieve successes, he becomes arrogant. And worse, he considers his arrogance as self confidence and as a successful person has right to do so or should behave so.
And he follows the path of successes blindly and forgets other crucial aspects.
As luck would have it, he soon faces downfall in his life and everything his life gets shattered.
And he fought back what he has lost his life. He fights for redemption.
But this time, he is a proud man who rises above the arrogance and does everything with humility. And he does it for his country and a noble cause of the rural people.
Well, Sultan is a perfect motivational dose for those people who have fallen down in life and finding hard to find aspirations.
– Salman excels in his character. He has largely unrelated his larger than image just like Bajarangi Bhaijaan. With these two films, unlike what his critics say, he has proven that he can brilliantly when necessary.
-Anushka Sharma shines in every scene and is pitch perfect.
Amit Sadh and Randeep Hooda Rocked.
-Music and Background Scores suit the film theme very well.
-Fight scenes were well choreographed and well blended with emotions and ambitions. Many may compare them with Brothers fighting scenes. But that are bound to happen since the themes of fight sequences based on MMA.
-Eye-captivating cinematography and the tight screenplay.
-The only negative point is its length. The editing should be crisper and the film could be a bit shortened.
-Nevertheless, one never feels there is a dull moment in the film.
Audiences were clapping and whistling.
-And last but not the least, Ali Abbas Zafar is a next big thing in Bollywood. He has mastered it.
-Obviously, the film has tremendous repeat value. Go for it.

Fair enough that people thought July 6th will be holiday and booked ticket. But you also have to consider that these might be hardcore SALMAN fan – who are ok to go to theater and watch SULTAN regardless of being holiday.
Since indicine is predicting 40 crores for 1st day collection 17 crore was collected cause people went and see SUTLAN without pre-booking and that is also big collection on non/partial holiday.
This is the best opportunity for salmon to break BB AND PK RECORDS if SULTAN crosses 270cr in 12 days then 300cr is on otherwise wait for kabir khan’s Tublight till then AMIR creates huge with DANGAL MAY BE 380CR AND SALMANS CHASE CONTINUES to break PK AND DANGAL ALL THE BEST
