After trouncing the competition (Mohenjo Daro) during the ‘Independence Day’ weekend this year, Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey were quick to announce their next film ‘Crack’ for the same weekend next year.
The announcement came just days after there were strong reports within the industry, that Imtiaz Ali and Shah Rukh Khan were eyeing the ‘freedom weekend’ to release their next film, which has already gone on floors in Prague.

It’s a well known fact that Shah Rukh likes to announce the release dates of his film, only after it goes on floors. By sticking to this strategy the superstar has missed out on all the big dates.
While Eid is no longer an option for any actor other than Salman Khan, announcing films early for weekends like Diwali, Post IPL, Independence Day etc, can make the competition think twice before announcing their own film.
With the unexpected announcement of ‘Crack’ coming early, the makers of Imtiaz Ali’s film are now in two minds. If they go ahead and announce the film for the same date, it could set up yet another big clash, which puts the weaker film (even if it isn’t a bad film) at a much bigger risk.
There are other factors too – Akshay Kumar is on a career-high after two major multiplex hits in 2016. Neeraj Pandey himself has a big film like ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, if that film works, it would make ‘Crack’ bigger.
There are also reports that the makers are considering the Dusshera weekend, which has plenty of holidays, but the concern will be ‘Pre-Diwali’ period that will curtail the box office prospects of the film in the long run.
If the clash happens, it’ll not just be SRK vs Akshay, it’ll also be a clash between two acclaimed directors – Imtiaz Ali (Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met, Rockstar, Tamasha) and Neeraj Pandey (Special 26, Baby). Vote and tell us who your favourite director is.

Once upon a time, there were strong reports within that YRF would release Sultan during Eid 2016. Hearing that, Ritesh Sidwani rushed to announce the Eid date for his Rice so that they could claim the Eid date before the team of Sultan did, which upset Adi immensely.
At the end, the result was the brutal humiliation of the Rice team in front of everyone.
Now, the team of the Crack did the same as per your report. What goes around comes around. Karma!!
But this time Akki won’t back out like the global star chickened out because the time with Akki and there is less risks associated with the Crack.

Both Neeraj and Imtiaz make multiplex-oriented films . But SRK is way ahead of Akki is multiplex following . Moreover Imtiaz has two widely appreciated films like ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Love Aaj Kal’ , but not a single Neeraj Pandey film has ever worked at single-screens .
Neeraj Pandey is a far better director but I soooooo luv Jab we met. Its my favourite love story of all time.

SRK must focus on solo release even a normal weekend.
The competition for release dates is getting more and more intense . I will wait for the official announcement by Imtiaz Ali or SRK . Independence Day weekend is not as huge which can handle 2 big movies with 2 big stars . With Eid and Diwali completely occupied and now Christmas almost booked the fight for remaining release dates in 2017 will be more deadly . Akshay and Neeraj Pandey Combo is a treat in terms of content as well as appreciation . Both S26 and Baby were brilliant and Neeraj could have made Rustom in a much better manner as compared to Tinnu Desai . SRK and Imtiaz Ali are working for the first time and both of them want to bounce back after Fan and Tamasha . For me Neeraj Pandey is a much better director as compared to Imtiaz Ali . I have seen all 3 movies of NP – A Wednesday, S26 and Baby and all of them are unique in their own way . I really like the style of filmmaking which is slick and thrilling . As for Imtiaz I have seen JWM, Rockstar and Highway . JWM and Highway were absolutely brilliant but Rockstar for me was pretty average especially in the 2nd half . Music and extraction of performances from actors are the two points I really like in his filmmaking . Currently Raees is supposed to clash with Kaabil on 26th Jan 2017 . So I don’t think SRK will want one more clash in 2017 also on Non Holiday . If this is confirmed 2017 will also be a year of clashes and this will get more exciting . !!!!!!

Independence Day weekend is now of AKKI.
No doubt, Neeraj Pandey is better director than Imtiaz Ali.
But SRK is bigger star than Akki.
In my opinion, If Crack & The Ring clashes, it will be a good competition.
If both will have Good Wom , Then
Crack – 110 crs
The Ring – 120 crs.
The fact is even the shooting of the Crack hasn’t been started yet, Akki will finish his film before SRK wraps up his.
Take into the considerations that that old fragile Buddha with 20 packs abs on his face often gets injuries during even simple and easy shootings

I think Srk is not interested in retaining his top position. The movies he is doing now all seem offbeat and doing 3 movies in a year will decrease the collections of his movies. He definitely knows all these things but still doing it. It only shows that Srk now doesnt wants to run in the race of box office. Well, he can do whatever he wants as he has achieved everything by now and has nothing to lose. My advice to all Srk fans, stop fighting with other fanbases and dont care about box office collections bcoz even your idol isnt caring.
