Khamoshiyan Review

Story: The film begins in Kashmir (shot in Cape Town) and kicks off with a jilted writer Kabir (Ali Fazal) who is known to run away from relationships. When he starts working on his next novel, he comes across Meera (Sapna) who runs a guest house. Soon, eerie things begin to happen in the guesthouse and Kabir finds Meera weirdly trying to hide her past.

Kabir, who has fallen in love with Meera, is determined to find the truth and wants to help her. The owner of the guesthouse is Jaidev (Gurmeet Choudhary) who plays an ill man with heavy satanic instincts. Through the journey of the film Kabir realises there is much more than what meets the eye and the truth is far from what is visible.

Khamoshiyan Review

Review: Khamoshiyan is one of those movies that makes you wonder as to what Vikram Bhatt (writer) was thinking when he writes films as bad as this. It’s a film that completely defies the laws of the spiritual world.

In his directorial debut, Karan Darra disappoints. The first half takes its own sweet time to establish the plot, while the second half drags on to a never ending deep dark tale of non-scary ghosts and unbelievable but funny tales. The plot of Khamoshiyan is filled with loopholes and cliches, where you see the same old windows and doors emitting the creaky sounds, desperately pleading the audience to believe that this film is meant to be scary and not funny.

The music is good, the title song stands out. Jeet Ganguli delivers yet again. The production values are average at best, cinematography is good.

Ali Fazal does well, but the script lets him down. Sapna Pabbi has the sex-appeal needed for the role, but also needs to work on her dialogue delivery and accent. Gurmeet Choudhary makes his Bollywood debut in a negative role, he does a decent job.

Overall, Khamoshiyan fails to scare or thrill. At the box office, the film should do well at select mass centres only.

Positives

  • Music, especially the title song

Negatives

  • Story, screenplay, forced sex scenes, dialogues and plot.

  • I believe that avoiding highly processed foods will be the first step to lose weight. They may taste great, but processed foods currently have very little nutritional value, making you feed on more just to have enough strength to get over the day. If you are constantly consuming these foods, transferring to grain and other complex carbohydrates will help you have more energy while taking in less. Interesting blog post.

  • Good article. It is extremely unfortunate that over the last one decade, the travel industry has had to fight terrorism, SARS, tsunamis, flu virus, swine flu, and also the first ever true global recession. Through everthing the industry has proven to be powerful, resilient and dynamic, getting new solutions to deal with misfortune. There are usually fresh challenges and possibilities to which the industry must once more adapt and answer.
