Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has now said India is a very tolerant country and has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop people who spread hatred and try to break the country.
“Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill-will.. Those who speak of breaking up this vast country, such people are present in all religions, only Modiji can stop them. After all, Modiji is our PM, we have to tell him” Aamir Khan said on Rajat Sharma’s ‘Aap ki Adalat’, according to a press release by India TV.
Aamir said he had immense trust in the law of the land and added that PM Modi has already expressed his concern over negativity and hatred.
“Law is equal for all, and nobody is above law. Unfortunately, there are some people who spread negativity and hatred. If I am not wrong, our prime minister has also expressed concern. His slogan is ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas’,” he said.
“I had said in my interview that there was a sense of depression, a sense of despondency, a feeling of insecurity and intolerance was growing. But these are entirely two different things. I never said India was intolerant, I was wrongly quoted.. To say about rising intolerance and to say India is intolerant are two different things.”
About the government agency’s decision not to renew his contract as the brand ambassador of tourism in India, Aamir said “For me, my motherland is my mother, it cannot be a brand. I can never view my mother as a brand. It could be a brand for other people, but not for me. Till this date, I continue to be India’s brand ambassador, even the government may have discontinued me”
Back in November 2015, Aamir had said “As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can’t deny. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents”
“When I chat with Kiran at home, she says ‘Should we move out of India?’ That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. That does indicate that there is this sense of growing disquiet, there is growing despondency apart from alarm. You feel why this is happening, you feel low. That sense does exist in me”
Sad thing is my idol is the only one who always whatever he speaks, my fellow mates hypocritely defend him and when a much more intelligent, much bigger star, much better actor does the same, my innocent, jerk, childish, mentally stuborn kiddo mates are barking a lot.

@Challa and @Ank though you both guys appreciate Aamir on many occasions so I deeply hurted when you guys blaming Aamir for dilwale issue. Aamir had no role in Dilwale issue. Srk was first who said about intolerance on his birthday so he was totally responsible for all the issues happened when Dilwale released. Its not that Srk said about intolerance on July 2015 and Aamir said on Nov 2015, in reality the gap between both statement were mere 21 days only. Why not Aamir intolerance comment affecting Salman, the reason is that Salman never commented about intolerance. If srk remained silent about intolerance when asked how could Aamir statement hurt him and Dilwale. And for god sake please admit that Dilwale is the crap film and deserves the faith it got at boxoffice in India. With Aamir statement, it’s only Aamir who affected. He is not a brand ambassador of Incredible India and snap deal now. People are angry with him, scolding him regularly.
Dilwale wasn’t a classic who failed because of Aamir. Salman comment about yakub Menon just after one week of Bajrangi Bhaijaan release date but does that stopped it to became atbb. Reason the film was outstanding. As simple as that.
The way people reacting on Aamir statement is the worst I think. He is not a criminal, yes his statement was in bad taste but that doesn’t make him anti-national. People of India made him superstar but he is more responsible for his success than anybody else. He has done so many good work through his films and real life, he also involved in some controversial things too but we are fools to him declare anti national with just one statement while we never claimed him highly patriotic when he did Sarfarosh,Lagaan or RDB. Many haters who are saying lime earlier we used to like Aamir but its Aamir statement who made us against him, they are nothing more than his haters or people who usually don’t like him. A neutral person scolds his statement not him.
As an Aamir fan I am proud of him, I believe that he will keep give commebts and his vision the way he feel and wants too, He should not need to clarify himself again and again for those statement. Regarding Dangal if it is a great film, Kisi ka baap nahi ROK sakta ise blockbuster banne se. Neither Modi bhakts nor his haters.

@Ank second this yes there is huge difference between growing intolerance and intolerant. For example now a days when srk films not able to match Aamir and Salman films success or the way a srk film should be, people saying that does srk superstardom is declining. The answer yes srk stardom is declining but he is still a superstar not a former superstar. The difference is the present situation around his recent films. But that doesn’t make srk a flop actor, does it? Yes Aamir is correct in his defence by differentiating growing intolerance in India and Intolerant India.

He clearly said that his wife feels that its not safe to live in India and so why not leave the country if there is so much unsafe conditions and aamir clearly said that its a disaster idea to leave the country where I was born and I love my country even if there is little intolerance. That’s what he clearly said in his tweet. Also watch his interview to get more idea instead of blindly defending srk. If we read ur whole comment it is not a negative one and not that u r bashing SRK. But u did call it a u-turn in the very first statement. Right?
So when we say the same thing about Amir then y r u getting hurt about that? I only said that Amir is intelligently balancing things and back tracking on his original statement which is similar to ur calling SRKs statement a u turn. I would have also expected from u that u would explicitly call this a u turn by Amir rather than talking about him being a national hero which we know that he is as well as SRK.
Secondly in none of my comments ever including the one on this article have I ever praised Dilwales content or I have ever said that Dilwale poor collections are due to Amir statement? My stance is clear that Dilwale didn’t work due to poor content and the biz it lost due to protests should only be associated to SRKs own statements. Don’t know how u linked that thing to me. I have openly showed my displeasure about the content of Dilwale and HNY in a number of comments.
If u read my comment carefully I had agreed with Challa comments in which he said that some people are treating SRK and Amir differently. SRK was also a national hero but those people were not writing long emotional comments to support SRK back then.
Anyways I have always showed my admiration for Amir publicly. I supported both SRK and Amir back when they made those statements and as well support them today. They have met an unfair treatment by the media as well as the industry who didn’t support them. Now that both have clarified (or took a u turn as some would say) I just hope that this time wasting and un necessary controversy ends.
