Bheja Fry had opened quite well at Rs 2 crores and is still doing extraordinarily well at multiplexes. This 50 lakhs film might well do business of over 8 crores.
2007 has so far seen two bona fide all-India successes – GURU and NAMASTE LONDON. Now add on BHEJA FRY to the list.
Released at select cinemas 2 weeks back, the film has shown an improvement over its first week collections with cities like Mumbai and Delhi showing a jump from Week 1 to Week 2. Released at around 100 cinemas, the film had opened quite well at Rs. 2 crores whereas the second week has done extraordinary well too with another Rs. 2 crores + coming in.
After VIVAH [2006] and THE NAMESAKE [2007], this is only the third instance in recent times when the collections have improved in Week 2. Made at a shoestring cost of about Rs. 55 lakhs, the film is now a very big success and if it sustains so for even a week more, it would qualify as year’s biggest superhit so far due to sheer quantum of profit margins.
Directed by Sagar Bellary, the film is a comedy, which stars Vinay Pathak as the central protagonist along with Rajat Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey, Milind Soman and Bhairavi Goswami.
