Ayesha down memory lane

From Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander to the recent Umrao Jaan, Ayesha remembers her co stars…

Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander girl resurfaced with J P Dutta?s Umrao Jaan recently, over her decade-long stint as a leading lady ? Ayesha lists her favourite heroes:

Aamir Khan: He used to be such a prankster on the sets of Jo Jeeta?, once he gave me a gift and when I opened it excitedly ? it popped in my face!

He couldn?t ever be outwitted, I would tease him about his not-so-perfect Hindi. Once we even held a Hindi dictation competition in which he misspelt the word khubsoorat, but he got away saying that it was spelt the way he did!

Salman Khan: In Kurbaan, I was supposed to ride a horse and I was so scared of riding. Salman sat in the same saddle behind me and encouraged me. After 2-3 rounds I realized I was riding alone and he was hanging by the bars we passed! He is naughty as well as compassionate ? he?s childlike.

Govinda: I enjoyed working with him in Ikka Raja Rani and performing numerous stage shows with him. I remember how he danced with complete abandon at my mehendi with me, we hadn?t rehearsed at all yet we were in perfect synch. I don?t hesitate in calling him my ?4 am? buddy.

Jackie Shroff: I shared a great rapport with him during Vishwa Vidhaata. The fact that he was my senior never came between us. He is a very friendly person. I remember how he never got tired of posing with his fans for keepsakes at Dubai, even with a particularly pesky fan who posed in many ways and took endless snaps.

He had challenged me that if I kept quiet for a minute, he would give me Rs. 1000, a wager that I never won!

Akshay Kumar: We have featured in five films together and we climbed the ladder together. We were shooting for Khiladi at Hill Road, Bandra, Mumbai and it was chase scene which involved rickshaw driving in from the corner of the road. When the shot was being delayed, Akshay took us to the juice centre close by and director duo Abbas-Mustan kept yelling for the rickshaw to appear in frame and we were playing truant sipping chilled orange juice!
