It was not too long ago, when Bollywood’s greatest dancer met the King of Pop for the very first time, infact it was about 7 months back in December 2008.

Hrithik Roshan, who was shooting for Anurag Basu’s Kites in Los Angeles, was quite stunned when Jackson walked into his makeup room and introduced himself.

According to those present in the makeup room “Hrithik was in his make-up room when MJ’s two bodyguards entered. He was taken aback to see these burly men enter the room. On questioning them, he learnt that they were Michael Jackson’s body guards.”

On January 14th 2000, against tough competition with Aamir Khan’s Mela, a medium budget - moderately hyped film, Kaho Na Pyar Hai released, which many believed to be just another love story made to launch yet another star son, that would fizzle 2 weeks after release.  But Hrithik had other plans and what followed will be etched in the memory of every Bollywood fan of the era.

A mega superstar was born and the craze was unbelievable something never witnessed before. The star, just a film old, commanded most brand endorsements, was on every director’s wish-list, made it to the cover of most magazines, was compared with every other established superstar.. and it was just the beginning of, what people call the Hrithik Mania. The first official action packed trailer of Kites was recently unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival and although the quality of the video isn’t great, its a must watch!

Hrithik Roshan, the lead actor of Kites, charmed the audience at Cannes. Unveiling the movie Hrithik said “Kites is an international film shot in the US, in English, with a Mexican actress. There is no Bollywood song-and-dance. There is dance, but it is realistic, not Bollywood style. In Bollywood, if an actor has to sing, there is playback, and there are dances out of nowhere, that’s obsolete now. This is a film for a world platform.”

Directed by Anurag Basu (Murder, Life in a Metro) Kites stars Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori and Kangna Ranaut in key roles. The film is expected to release worldwide this Diwali. >> More <<
