Best KK Songs: Top 10

Krishnakumar Kunnath, fondly known as KK, has got arguably the most versatile voice amongst all the singers this generation. He got his first break in Gulzar’s classic ‘Machis’ in 1996 when he sang the popular number ‘Chod Aaye Hum’ with senior singers Hariharan and Suresh Wadkar. Since then, he has given his silken touch to many classic and popular numbers.

KK has been blessed with an infinite vocal range and hence eases through both the lowest and highest notes comfortably. The freshness of his voice has remained the same during all these years. Commendable!

2) Awaarapan Banjarapan: Now, hear this song exactly after ‘Tadap Tadap’ and you cannot imagine in the wildest of your dreams that the male playback singer is the same person. KK mesmerises with his emotional vocal range in this M.M Kreem’s composition from ‘Jism’. Soulful singing at its best.

3) Khuda Jaane: For those who believe that KK is at his best only in slow or sad songs, this song from ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ is a must-hear. KK takes this Vishal-Shekhar composition to new heights with his alluringly captivating voice. This is arguably one of the most romantic contemporary songs of this era.

4)Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai: KK’s silky smooth vocals melt together with Pritam’s sweet arrangements to create a genuine song for the movie ‘Gangster’. KK does a wonderful job in rendering this track that only grows on you with more exposures.

5) Ajab Si: Well, KK has rendered his voice to this Vishal-Shekhar tune from ‘Om Shanti Om’, as if he was born to sing this song. His evocative vocals seamlessly latch onto the acoustic rhythm, becoming one with the music itself.

6) Dil Kyun Yeh Mere: KK really hits the mark and brings in a cinematic quality to this song that firmly places the aural experience as one of being larger than life. His voice is ever so irresistible in this Rajesh Roshan composition and it makes you want to fly like a Kite.

7) Maine Dil Se Kaha: Listening to KK’s singing in this number from ‘Rog’ is equivalent to listening to a flute. His quiet rendition of this M.M. Kreem composition has such a powerful impact that the voice stays with you even after the song is over.

8) Such Keh Raha Hai: KK fills life and soul in this heart-break emotional song from ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein’. His emphatic singing has blended perfectly with the musical arrangements of Harris Jayraj.

9) O Meri Jaan: KK’s rocking vocals in this soft ballad from ‘Life in a Metro’ have the power to move even the hardest heart. While listening to this Pritam’s composition, the listener cannot help but appreciate magnificent singing.

10) Tu Aashiqui Hai: KK shines again in this superb Vishal-Shekhar composition from ‘Jhankaar Beats’. He showcases his skills to the fullest as he handles the cords accurately. It is the song, which takes the listeners to the world of ecstasy.
