Fastest to 100 crores

Of the several records that Ek Tha Tiger has broken over the last 8 days, the Salman Khan starrer is also the fastest...

Ek Tha Tiger – Second Blockbuster of 2012

Ek Tha Tiger is now officially the second blockbuster of 2012. The film has absolutely shattered all box-office records – including those on the much-dreaded weekdays. Infact, what has come as a complete surprise for the trade, is the Tuesday collections (16.31), which is higher than Thursday (14.52) and Friday (12.9)  and almost as good as Saturday (16.75). These are jaw-dropping figures for working days.

From empty theatres to records, Salman sees it all in 3 years

18th September 2009, a day I would never forget. Stepping in to watch a evening show at a premium multiplex, I realised to my horror that the auditorium was barely 30%-40% occupied. The film was ‘Wanted’. A Salman Khan starrer no less. And even though the mass centres (especially single screens) had picked up  with weekend throwing up some good numbers, multiplexes had a different story to tell. Well, to begin with at least.

Ek Tha Tiger Records – Box office

Before the release of Ek Tha Tiger, we published an article on the records that the Salman Khan film chases. Barely 6 days after it’s theatrical release, it’s time to look back and see which of those records were broken. First day : Agneepath’s 21 crore record was absolutely destroyed by Ek Tha Tiger on the opening day of it’s release. We expected anything in the range of 26-28 crores, but ETT did 31.25 crore nett! Biggest day : Even if you include collections from the regional versions of Ra One, Ek Tha Tiger quite comfortably surpassed the biggest day in history, once again by a huge margin.

Ek Tha Tiger 5 day Box Office Collections

Ek Tha Tiger is likely to fall agonisingly short of the 100 crore mark after 5 days at the box-office in India. Early estimates suggest that the film has crossed 20 crores on Sunday, taking the 5 day total to Rs 98 crore nett. Ek Tha Tiger 5 Day Box Office Collections Wednesday - 33 crores (31.25) Thursday – 14.5 crores (14.5) Friday – 13 crores (12.12) Saturday – 16.75 crores (15.75) Sunday – 23.1 crores (20.5) Total – 100.1 crores (94.12) Note: Since some have asked us to include Boxofficeindia figures, we have put them in brackets. The other figure is official (except the 5th day estimate)

Ek Tha Tiger Overseas Collections

Ek Tha Tiger has opened to a great response at the overseas markets too. The film has gone past the previous records of all Salman Khan films. Below are the overseas collections for the first 3 days (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday). Please note that we haven’t received figures from a few screens.
