The Train - Movie Review

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Review?by?Vikram?Bondal

Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwala, the director-duo who made a superb start with ‘The Killer’ last year are back again with ‘The Train’. This brings up one question, have they been able to equal the form they displayed with ‘The Killer’.

Like ‘The Killer’ which was inspired by the Tom Cruise-Jamie Foxx starrer Collateral (2004),this movie is a remake of the Clive Owen - Jennifer Aniston - Vincent Cassel starrer Derailed(2005) which incidentally was also made into a tamil film by director Gautham Menon called Pachaikili Muthucharam starring Sarath Kumar and Jyothika. >> More <<

Fool N Final - Movie Review

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Fool N Final, directed by Ahmed Khan and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala, promises to be a fun package of entertainment, but it fails in its attempt big time. There are a few comic moments, that tickle your funny bone? but unfortunately that?s about it… The movie has an imperfect mixture of everything and leaves you with so many questions lingering in your head. Freeze your brains or lock them back at home as this movie demands its audience to be dumb and senseless. >> More <<

Cheeni Kum - Movie Review

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Cheeni Kum, directed by R Balakrishnan, is a romantic comedy that tells us about two strangers who fall in love with each other and wish to spend the rest of their lives together. The movie does not beat around the age factor but rather with hilariously well constructed sequence makes this sensitive issue a realistic and exciting tale.

First lets clear the speculation that Cheeni Kum is same as Nishabd. The theme is similar to that of Nishabd but its flavor is more delicious and colorful. Cheeni Kum brings out the relationship between an old man and a young women with humor and sagacity and makes it easy to comprehend and digest. >> More <<

Experimentation is the new mantra today. The past few monsoons have seen the dream merchants envisioning stories that strike the right balance between real and make-believe. ‘Think out of the box’ and ‘Push the envelope’ are expressions that echo every alternate Friday.

One cannot classify EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL in any particular genre. There are light moments, hilarious moments, tense moments, dramatic moments, mad moments? Debutante director Sanjay Khanduri tries to pack in everything in those 2 + hours. No issues with that, but what could’ve been conveyed in a concise format of 1.30 / 1.45 hours is stretched to 2 + hours for no reason. A number of sequences are stretched for no reason, thereby diluting the impact. >> More <<

Reality is a question of perspective; the further you get from the past, the more concrete and plausible it seems — but as you approach the present, it inevitably seems incredible.

?Ek Chalis Ki Last Local? directed by debutant Sanjay Khanduri, is a comic thriller. The plot is entirely based upon the story of two young people whose lives are changed dramatically and forever on account of sheer luck and chance. The movie is a captivating drama with series of episodes meshing with each other. It?s confusing yet an intriguing comic drama.

Life in a… Metro - Movie Review

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

?Life in a?Metro ? One city, Countless emotions.? Directed by Anurag Basu, the movie manifestly demonstrates the hard-pressed life of metro-ites, the conflicts of the emotional and sensible mindset of such people. The growing demand in both domestic and professional life blindfolds the sense of contentment and appreciation of what is already there and seeks pleasure in needless deeds. There is no end to search, but time does meet an end.

To describe in few words, ‘Metro’ is a movie that tells different stories with one common theme: complexities of relationships. It also illustrates how one succumbs to the worst conduct just to earn riches and rank. >> More <<

Kya Love Story Hai - Movie Review

Friday, April 20th, 2007

Kya Love Story Hai, sounds interesting. But it actually makes you go mad at yourself for having planned to see such a movie. The movie, is a time machine, takes us way back to 1964 story themes, but has got nothing to offer as the triangle love story then did. The movie has nothing lovely in it other than the name of the directory, Lovely Singh.

KYA LOVE STORY HAI, directed by Lovely Singh, is a complex and confusing mixture of too many genres. >> More <<
