After Shahid Kapoor (read article), Aamir Khan has hit out at actors in the industry who give out inflated box office numbers.
During a promotional campaign of his upcoming film PK, Aamir said “Its childish. I think that for some reason various people in the film industry feel that by inflating their figures they would convince people.”
“Nowadays you get to buy editorial in number of newspapers which is extremely unfortunate. So what happens is that I can buy editorial and say ,’Mera itna dhanda hua ya utna hua’ (Say my film has earned this much). But its meaningless because when you go home you know how much business the film has done. Even the industry knows exactly how much each film has done. So the market knows, you can’t fool the market. You can try and fool people but how many times will you fool people also. Ultimately you are just fooling yourself.”
Aamir went on to add that he is one of those actors who is strictly against the idea of giving out inflated figures, something that he claims he hasn’t done for any of his films so far “I am one of the people who strictly doesn’t give out figures which are inflated” the actor added.
Aamir holds the record for the highest grosser in the industry. His last release Dhoom 3 went on to collect Rs 283 crore in India and more than Rs 500 crore (gross) overseas. He was also the ‘founder’ of the 100 crore and 200 crore clubs. The trade expects his upcoming film ‘PK’ to be the first to cross Rs 300 crore in India.

Aamir,we agree with your statement absolutely & also know that u are one of the few among superstar’s who don’t encourage fake numbers.Moreover almost everyone who follows these numbers even know that only 2 actors are desperate in fudging their figs of their films,so why to respond time and again to make it controversial,yes nor the market neither the public today believe in such false information.Its just self determination of those actors to sell their film and please their fans.Ultimately they know the TRUTH.

Its as simple as this. If a big star movie opening is above trade expectations there is no need to manipulate or inflate box office numbers. But the day the opening is lower than expectations.. it will be inflated.
Taran came back to Twitter just to inflate and give credibility to opening numbers of Happy New Year… Why didn’t he do that with Bang Bang??
Aamir hasn’t found the need to inflate because Dhoom 3 opened to earth shattering response.. but if PK doesn’t open well, will he inflate or not?

He only has one film since producers started giving own figures (dhoom 3) and it had a 10cr diff between producer n BOI figs so some would call that slightly inflated. Other films had a 15cr or so diff (CE, Kick, ETT, HNY, YJHD etc)…it was Bang Bang (35cr) and Krrish 3 (60cr) that were inflated a lot.
Even PK will have slight inflation most likely.
Aamir doesnt need to inflate figures coz his movies are always among biggest hits in terms of collection like ghajini;3 idiots and dhoom3

Completely agree with Aamir on this!! Its very silly to give inflated figures, specially opening day figures are mostly inflated for many films.
The two biggest manipulation of figures belong to one actor. I hope he stops doing this. It doesn’t suit him.
@Goutam.. BOI said 40 cr. Official figure was 45. Record breaking doesn’t mean there is no inflation.. Final collections also there was about 15% difference.

I don’t think by inflated fig aamir means boi fig.he is reffering to d habit of certain producers to by editorial spots and gv faje figures that r neither approved by komal nor by other sources.ex-acc to balaji ouatimd frsr day clctn was 14cr which was fake or acc to Fox star humshakals makers humshakals 39cr in weekend even though d actual was 34cr.

peoples like komal nahta and taran adarsh are reputed trade analysts of the industry and they have earned reputations over the years by their sincere works, and they will not lose their morality for any superstar be it big b himself, so it is childish to say that they inflate bo figures.
There should be a single, common, and certified source to track and give BO figures for all movies. Period!
Seriously though, a movie should be judged on the basis of its content, sadly our media and audience are too much into the numbers.

Krrish 3 has done a business of about 244 cr India and around 55 cr overseas. I wonder who these people are who have been so affected by these numbers and my success. Are they the ones I call my friends I wonder? I would like to tell them that they need not ever be insecure about another man’s success cause all they need to do is concentrate on their own hard work which in turn will help them achieve what they want.
Some from the industry and certain sections of the media are hell-bent on putting me, my father and ‘Krrish 3? down. I have maintained my silence until now but these derogatory manipulations need to stop.
