Whether it is competition from new releases like Fukrey and Raanjhanaa or heavy rains that has lashed the country – absolutely nothing has stopped Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani at the domestic and overseas box office.
The film has crossed the 180 crore mark in India, making it the first ‘All Time Blockbuster’ of 2013. YJHD is also Ranbir Kapoor’s first All Time Blockbuster, his previous biggest hit was ‘Raajneeti’, a multi-starrer that did exceedingly well at the box office and last year’s award-winning film ‘Barfi’.
The film is also a massive blockbuster in the overseas market, where it has collected around 58 crore in 24 days since it’s release.

Not too long ago, questions were being asked if Ranbir Kapoor films can find an audience in smaller towns, the B and C centres. The universal success of YJHD has more than answered the question – Ranbir is now an All-India superstar and his next release Besharam, directed by Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap, will be one of the most awaited films of the year.

ranbir is the best….. now he is officially tagged as the all india new superstar post the success of YJHD after so many speculations that he can’t overtake the present superstars…. very happy for him since he is my fav star after SRK, but the sad part is the film didn’t deserve the success it has achieved..it was a very ordinary film with hit music… i wished his film barfi shud hve been a BB/ATBB…

@karizma, loser just wait for krrish 3, yeh jawaani hai deewani was the luckiest film ever, even imran khan or aditya roy kapoor would have got that success with this film and promotions, it was totally money making film. it didn’t require any great acting skills. and why give all credit to ranbir ??? 40% of the people went to see it coz of aditya roy kapur after aashiqui 2. many went see deepika and the music played a huge role and the strongest point was the music only. why give all credit to ranbir ??

some1 compares srk n ranbir as both d actors got atbb aftr 4-5 yrs of debut, bt my frend u forgot DABANGG KHAN first lead movie was ATBB i.e. Maine pyar kiya. So salman is only actor who set this record in d history of indian cinema n nobody can beat dis record ever..
@khan kapoor: aankhen is also an atbb givinda movie released in 1993. so there are 3 actors except khans who have also atbb movie.. sunny gaddar..govinda aankhen and now ranbir yeh jawani hai deewani.

don’t compare indian cinema to hollywood.
indian’s no matter where on earth they are, they are still attached to the songs and dance style of movies, with stars etc., and hence the best marketing technique is to market the stars.
there is a cultural difference between movies in west and what we have here, and what worked there does not necessarily work here too……..for eg., many giant companies from US changed their marketing strategy to suit the indian population like good old mac, kfc, pepsi, coke etc.,that’s the difference with India, that’s the power of India…that’s the style of India……..
I wondered how such a movie have nothing to say special becomes atbb . I watched this movie because of ranbeer ..i like his acting and definitly he is bollywoods bright future . But when i saw the movie .. Then i realise this is nothing than average .. Nothing spcl like 3idiots .. and how this movie collectis such huge numbers.. This is the choice of our Indians ????

How can you ignore the performance of Aashiqui 2 which deserves the tag of a all time blockbuster too because it collect more than 12 times it’s budget worldwide & 9 times in India. It could have even collected 130 worldwide had they released in more than 2 countries overseas. For a small film with budget of just 8 crores & also debutants as Shradda was making her debut & it was the 1st film of Aditya as male lead. It is a huge achievement, it was never expected to even collect 50 crores leave alone 82 in India. Not to forget that it faced competition from IPL, movies like Shootout at Wadala, Iron Man 3 and Fast & the Furious 6 which had a major impact on it’s collections, had it released with open weeks it could have even collected 100 crores in India. It was the best trending film since 3 Idiots which showed in the collections after 3rd week which was huge. It’s extremely unfair to ignore the film just like some other blockbuster it deserves the tag of all time blockbuster
