‘Krrish 3’ and ‘Dhoom 3’ are all set to be 200 crore grossers.
‘Besharam’ is all set to be third consecutive century in the making for Ranbir Kapoor.
‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara’ are comfortable 100 crore candidates.
There won’t be any stopping ‘Boss’, ‘Ram Leela’, ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’, ‘Bullett Raja’, ‘Rambo Rajkumar’, ‘Highway’ and ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’.
However, other than the Fridays on which these 12 films release, there are 10 more Fridays remaining before end of year. Just like ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘Raanjhanaa’ which exceeded all expectations and over performed, chances are that there would be at least 4-5 major surprises coming from other films as well.
Here is looking at these films.
The film’s international look has done the trick. John Abraham has kept his promise of bringing something that can be proudly showcased to Hollywood as well. If the promo is any indication, this action film with a backdrop of war should be an intriguing nail biting affair. While it is a given that the film would be John’s biggest solo grosser till date, it would be heartening if this Shoojit Sircar directed film manages to recreate the success of ‘Vicky Donor’ at the box office.
Shuddh Desi Romance
Director Maneesh Sharma’s last ‘Ladies v/s Ricky Behl’ grossed more than his debut film ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ but couldn’t garner similar appreciation. He seems to be returning with vengeance in ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’. Sushant Singh Rajput has already tasted success with ‘Kai Po Che!’ while Parineeti Chopra comes with the tag of an actor as well. This is one film that could throw in a major surprise on its release.
The film has been delayed by over six months and has been in news for not so flattering reasons. However what is indeed positive about this Apoorva Lakhia directed film is that it is looking very slick with some fast paced drama. Though Ram Charan Teja’s debut is not being as much hyped as is the case with an arrival of a quintessential Bollywood star-son, good content and positive word of mouth could do the trick.
The film should be a good success. However the real pleasant surprise would be if it over-performs, just as has been the case with an ‘Aashiqui 2’ or a ‘Raanjhanaa’. Its riotous promo has done the trick with it’s target audience and the vibes are right too. Still, if the film manages to break the ceiling and take one of the top slots amongst the highest grossing adult films ever, it would be time to uncork the champagne.
Meanwhile, some nutritional food is expected to be served in Irrfan’s ‘Lunchbox’. With Karan Johar getting associated, there is added flavour to this platter which was waiting for just the right table to be served. The reports so far have been very positive, its promotion and marketing is expected to be on the right lines as well. Now it is just time for the lights to be dimmed, music to be played and offering to be savoured.
Phata Poster Nikla Hero
The title couldn’t have been more opt for Shahid Kapoor who is indeed looking at re-instating his positioning as a quintessential ‘hero’. Reeling under major flops like ‘Mausam’ and ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’, he is in desperate need of a major hit. The film has Rajkumar Santoshi at the helm of affairs who is not expected to go wrong. However all involved would be keeping their fingers crossed to see how the film performs.
This is yet another film which should turn out to be a success. However, yet again the difference would lie in ‘how big’ it turns out to be. With Emraan Hashmi and Sanjay Dutt leading the cast, this ensemble affair has Rensil D’Silva making a comeback with a well made but commercial failure ‘Kurbaan’. While it is expected that Karan Johar would go all out in the promotion, one waits to see the film indeed turn big.
Singh Sahab The Great
Now this is one major surprise that one is so-very-desperately praying that it occurs! Sunny Deol has always been loved by the audience but films like ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ hardly do any justice to his stature as an actor. On the other hand Anil Sharma too would be looking forward to leave the ‘Veer’ fiasco behind. ‘Singh Sahab The Great’ has a ‘great’ title and setting; all it has to do now is boast of good content too.
