The first reviews of Ashutosh Gowariker’s Whats your Rashee are out and most are mixed, as with most big releases.
But what’s worrying is quite a few folks from the industry who have already watched the movie, gave it a thumbs down.
Here are some reasons why the movie may not work at the box office and why the reports indicate the failure of Ashutosh Gowariker to recreate his Lagaan – Jodha Akbar magic!
– Too many songs, girl from each Rashee has a song.
– 3 and a half hours of runtime. Too long for a light hearted entertainer.
– Although Gowariker has managed to blend comedy and drama pretty well, the first half is a drag.
– Most believed the climax was pretty weak.
Coming to the positives, the response to the second half was good, Priyanka’s performance has come in for extra praise.

What’s Your Rashee? is one of the worst films of recent times. Too many songs and hopeless acting by Harman Baweja. Agreed, Gowariker likes his movie to be long (and it did work in the case of Jodha Akbar and lagaan) but in this movie it just doesn’t work. There are so many unnecessary sub plots which further slacken the pace of the movie.
By the time its intermission you are already so irritated that u just want to pull your hair apart. What went into Gowariker while making such trash? Even the character traits of all the rashees are not identified with properly and many timesPriyanka Chopra of one rashee is almost exactly the same as Priyanka Chopra of another rashee.
I saw this film at the prestiguous TIFF and by the end of it was embarrased at the kind of cinema India had got to this great international platform. The are so many much better movies made in India, then why get such trash to international events?
The climax particularly is so unconvincing, that at the end u actually ask urself what was the point of this 3 and a half hr torture?..absolutely nothing..the point which could have been said in just abt an hr..is dragged on and on..with each rashee having a song of their own.
The music too is extremely poor and not one memorable song from the movie.
The only saving grace of the movie is the performance of Priyanka Chopra. She infused great effort and emotions in each of the character she plays and is a delight to watch.
Great dissapointment from a director who has made cult films like lagaan swades and even Jodhaa Akbar. Much better was expected out of him
and yes I would also like to add to that..that there are reports doing rounds in the Indian Media that What’s Your Rashee? got a thubms up from the audience in Toronto and that the tickets were sold out..well would like to clarify that this is NOT TRUE..i guess these are just paid reports..the tickets were not sold out..and infact half the theatre was empty..so ppl with balcony seats were upgraded to better seats to keep the front rows full..It got a very luke warm applause too at the end of it..and when Gowariker was requested to do a Question Answer session abt the movie he”politely” refused.
I just watched WYR and guess what? Priyanka ROCKS! Harman has done a very good job too. No way he looks like Hrithik and Ashutosh has taken care of that. The surprise element was Shahrukh Khan’s 30 second cameo in the Virgo song. I wish this movie becomes a big hit!
As I said Indicine Team, under your option (Ask Us).. that the movie doesn’t sound good.. we can judge any movie from it’s trailer. I could say that it’s a poor direction, poor script.. poor movie, and I could say while watching the trailer of Salman Khan’s Wanted that it’s a full masala and action movie which pleases men the most more than families.. and I could say while watching DBH’s trailer that it’s a very entertaining, nice movie which I was waiting for, a quality movie and one of best of Yash Raj films ( actually one of best of Rani’s film.. it’s better than Bunty aur Bubbly.. I just don’t understand why Bunty aur Bubly was a successful movie.. deserved to be a flop!)
About What’s your Raashee. I couldn’t stand even that one minute trailer which I saw on the tv.. so boring and a bad quality movie!!

well….i have not yet seen the movie but m really sad to see such reviews……i had really expected good stuff from Ashutosh Gowarikar but then JO DIKHTA HAI WAHI BIKTA HAI……and no doubt priyanka roxx….the most…..and Harman was i feel is a bad choice to cast…..Priyanka was soo good in Kaminey….and shahid simply rocked along with her ….even though the movie didnt please many round the globe…..but jo bhi hai…….i m gonna watch the movie for Priyanka Chopra….and i wish her all the success that comes along ……and thanks to everyone for such true reviews…i am sure ill spend for the movie but its good for those who dont watch it after reading such comments…HAHA…..!! thanku…and bbye…!!
Thank God I didn’t waste my time and money on these three movies: Wanted, DBH and What’s your Rashee……..I will definitely watch Wanted on DVD as it is turning out to be the biggest hit of the year but the initial reviews were mixed that was why i didn’t go to multiplex to watch this movie……
Anyway, I will wait for the movie to be released on DVD……
And I wish Whats your rashee turns out to be a disaster for Gawarikar….What does he think of himself??? If he has given some hits, does that mean he can disrespect anyone he wants and he can say anything about any one……He should be taught a lesson by giving a doze of a disaster to him…… So, Mr. Gawarikar, please don’t bother to show up in the next years awards…..
well..haven’t watched the movie yet so can’t say…i read the reviews..they are disappointing but i still am very reluctant to watch the movie and hopefully i’ll get to watch it soon..I guess Piggy Chops has done well like all her other performance…can anyone please tell who was chosen by Hurman in the climax??..I mean which raashee girl??….I have a feeling it has a twist..and isn’t it weird that all the 12 raashee girls r only Priyanka??..I mean how can all the raashees be in one girl itself??

Don’t believe in reviews..just believe in yr eyes and your heart.. believe in the trailer which u see of any movie and what u feel about it. I didn’t see What’s yr Raashee.. it’s not released yet in our country but saw the trailer.. and I could judge it that it’s a bad poor movie.. so I trust the above reviews because I saw with my eyes Ashoutosh Guwarikar’s work in one minute trailer.. and one minute of watching would be enough to judge any movie.. sometimes we’re wrong in our judgement but most of the time we’re right..
WyR is a bad movie for sure ( and I think that the director was so sorry that he signed hurman Baweja for this movie after the 2 flop movies he did, so he thought that he won’t pay lots of effort on this movie whether it flopped or did well.. probably it won’t matter to him.. so he didn’t care if the audience would love the movie or not).
Wanted is an action movie.. as everyone says.. if you loved Ghajini so you’ll love it for sure, go for it.. you might enjoy it.
If you love an entertaining package and u love to see Rani in this funny role she played as a punajbi guy ( not a romantic movie but a funny one which makes u laugh and u have a good time) so go for Dil Bole Hadippa.
I can’t recommend the movie which I loved and enjoyed DBH because I don’t know your taste.. but it deserves to be a hit movie and deserves that everyone watch it.

When I first saw the trailer of this movie, I knew from that time that this movie would be a flop. I went to download the ongs and found 13 songs to download.. And none of them are catchy tune.
Ya its true that gawarika has given some good movies, but the way he acts in awards are just stupid and makes people not want to watch his movies at all.
For some movies I double think to if I wana watch in cinemas or just wait for the dvd, But when I saw the trailer for this movie I didn’t want to watch or in the cinemas or even in dvd.
Harman has given 3 FLOPS now. Hope he does something better in the future.

What’s your Rashee is an average(2.8 star) entertainer, heaven for those who love watching songs and good dances in a movie.
Priyanka’s acting was truly exceptional, Harman was lucky to get a role that didn’t required him to do much with displaying emotions on his face, otherwise he would have again bagged a mediocre acting review. He just kept giving an OK NODE to what girls’ say, in exactly same way throughout movie(Again, Harman bagged something near to Mediocre review)
Whole Movie was nothing more then meeting girls of each Rashee and watching song dedicated to each of them and would be avoid-avoid thing for buying second show’s ticket mainly because all the songs are easily available for download.
Climax was like DAVID DHAWAN STYLE movie with all the villains, heroes at same place. It was too mediocre and ruined the taste of whole movie.
Had Ashu worked more on Climax, may be, he could get better review.
So, If you are having bore weekend then go for What’s your Rashee.
Well Fathiya: I really like good action movies so i will definitely go for Wanted. My friends have liked Salman’s acting in it. DBH, I can watch on DVD i think…. No need to go to Cinema for it….. And WYR sucks as per reviews and friends’ opinions, so i will definitely not waste my time on it. I won’t even bother to watch it on DVD…… I really hate Gawarikar because of his attitude towards other celebrities…. He is a selfish guy and He just wants every one from his movie win the awards in the Awards Functions… First he targeted Sajid Khan and Co. disrespecting them in Awards Function and then he did the same when Priyanka won the award claiming that she didn’t deserve the award…… According to Him, Aish should have won the award for his movie……… How dumb he can be????
And Fathiya in my opinion, I really love watching movies after getting good reviews about it and that is the reason, most of the times when i go to cinema, I enjoy watching the movie as i don’t waste my time and money on the movies with bad reviews….. My experience has been great ever since i have been following these movie reviews as I am not a First Day First Show lover….. I really think that it is better to wait for a day or two before going to the cinema……..My experience so far has been gr8……..And I will follow this trend unless I get to see a bad movie after getting good reviews……

Well, i loved this movie and also advice others to watch it.. well… i dont know whther they’d like it or not…. i dont know y many din’t liek the movie…. there is sum problem in their thinking or they r too narrow minded to judge a movie… one needs a vision to write a review for a movie.. i really liked teh movie and it is one of ma fav’s of all times.. i odnt know whta’s got into others.. as for jodhaa akabar… what’s your raashaa? is better than jodhaa akbar.. as far i know… so i loved the movie and everything.. i dont know wats the problem with 3.5 hours runtime.. nad i din’t pull my hair.. in fact i was eager to watch the second half at thetiem of interval.!!

Oh come on!! The movie ws good!! It wasn’t great… but it was good. It provided some time for us to not think of problems. Agreed there were too many songs but all the songs were great. I simply loved them. I never knew the movie had 13 songs. I got to know only when I went to watch the movie. Watch it for Priyanka Chopra’s hardwork folks! You’ll love her.

saw the movie yesterday. I was ready to be bored, but I started enjoying it. It is a comedy of a different sort, and people who like family drama, will go for it. The crowd cosisted of mostly women and college girls, and they were enjoying it hugely.
The movie is also a delicate dig on all things gujrati. You see gujju businessmen, successful builders, gujjus from Africa, gujjus who live in mohalla, gujjus who have affairs :) I am sure all gujjus are going to love it. ( One face to remember- Kushalbhai- Hamari koi shakha nahin ).
I was a bit disappointed by the portrayal of each rashee. For anyone who knows his/her Linda Goodman, this will not match. As one Libra friend assured me that she is NOT like that, we all will feel that something is not right. in the characteristics.
Otherwise- take your mom along ( like I did ) and see how much she enjoys this movie :)))

The film was just not upto my expectations. The same Priyanka again and again and again made me wanna leave the film mid way but i sat through the torture. I was soo dissapointed in Ashotosh because after seeing JA, I was expecting something awesome and worth it. Hormone Bawaja should seriously retire, cuz films are just not his cup of tea. He lacked facial expression probably during the entire 3-3 & a half hours. Priyanka was good only as Mallika Desai and that dorky first girl. All the songs are pure trash except for “Sujhe Sujhe” and the title track. The end of the film was nonsensical and childish. There were also instance when the movie was slowing down and you could take minor naps till the scene would complete. The film on the whole was a complete flop, and the only reason to watch it atleast for once was cuz of Priyanka Chopra, who could have given her 100% which any blind person could say she obviously did’nt. The cast was nothing impressive and niether were the locations and who the hell thought of a tacky road side don to be given soo much air time. Ashutosh Ji needs to let go of his snooty booty attitude and make good films and probably only stick to epics like Jodha Akbar. My rating 2 out of 5. Or maybe -2 out of 5….. chaoooo
