Welcome Back has opened well at the box office on Friday. Inspite of the film not featuring a bankable male lead and the absence of a superstar like Akshay Kumar, the opening of Welcome Back is one among the Top 5 biggest openers of the year so far.
The tremendous recall value of the first ‘Welcome’ film has ensured a good initial at the box office. First day business is certain to cross the 12-13 crore mark, but if the evening / night shows grow, Welcome Back could touch or cross the 15 crore mark on Day 1.
The film has opened very well at single-screens, at multiplexes the start in the morning was slow, but business has picked up in the noon.

Thanks God indicine Superstar Akshay is not in this Now this movie definitely becomes hit
Akshay Kumar is a small star no one care about him
His all movie just do a ok types of business or flop like brothers
Well, it shows that John is as equal as me. I released my Backlaash in a similar period few years ago. It collected a similar amount.
@Indicine,
How much has PK earned on his Gola (planet), (i.e. the planet that he has come from)?
Don’t you think you gotta consider it a flop if it hasn’t earned enough on his own planet (the domestic market)?
Akshay is no more a bankable star. Even Varun delivering 2-3 hits in a year now. In next coming years varun will completely overshadow Akki.
Welcome Back will easily beat all Akki films first day. Producers did good job rejecting Akki from the sequel, now it will definitely be a hit.
If Akki was in this sequel then it wont cross 10 cr on first day, people would have rejected it. Good job replacing Akki with John.
Thats great.so opening is exactly as per my teams predictions 14.2cr
wim is positive so tomorrow 18-19 possible. Sunday holds the key
@Indicine data is wrong for BB i think it shold be
Bajrangi Bhaijaan 75%
not 68%
hope it breaks baby record at least
I just love this dialogue
Mobile uski
SIM card apun ka
Beech me missed call dene wala tu kaun
I am thinking about using this dialogue on my newshour towards those irritating panelists ‘who never let me speak’
Waiting for TAMASHA <3
SRK's (Sir ranbir kapoor) magic will flooded away every box office record..!!
This Iz not at all good opening 4 a movie of budget 100 plus nd sequel to A highly successful film …!
It will be very tough for this movie 2 even recover his cost .
Don’t know y they invest so much money for this star cast …!
Akki would hve been there then guranted 20 cr opening ….!
If it manages 15 cr. Yes then its a good opening BT below 13 crs will be dissapointing start ..!
@indicine why u reduced bajrangi bhaijaan opening
15 cr would be big, as Akki rarely crossed 15 cr on first day . It should open bigger than floppy starrer Gobar and Brothers. Akki should start begging. John has easily replaced him.
surprising it is open very well it will be hit and might cross 100cr
Sequels never fail …..
Be it a crap
@indicine u were showing 45-50% for brothers.
Now 40
Gonna watch this movie no matter what the reviews.
screen count indicine? I have seen 2 different numbers on that on 2 different souces. 3200 by bollyhungama and 2800 by boxofficecapsule. Now i want to know whats ur final count on no. of screens? :)
@MR X, the release is around 3000 – 3100 screens. Official screen count is 3200.

Welcome Back opened better than Brothers, Gabbar Is Back and Baby. LOL.
My show time was 2 pm almost housefull……even they hike ticket prices
I spend 200 rs….
At the same time and place I watched bajrangi bhaijaan…. I spend that time … 250 rs…
Forget this my short review…
1st welcome was phenomenal….
2nd welcome was ok ok type…
For me it’s one time watch movie….
I guarantee it movie will not bored u….
Anil and nana steal the show…
Both these r just mindblowing….
John is playing side actor role really….
At one scene (I will not tell u that scene, I don’t want to spoils it) I laugh almost 10 min….that scene was phenomenal….
Best part of this movie….
Ending was crap….otherwise its entertainer….movie…
Totally Mindless comedy film…but 1st welcome was best one….
Raiting for welcome back….
2.75/5…
@indicine : You are reducing BB occupancy (opening) day by day. It was 75% and now down to 68% how could opening occupancy vary ?
Bajrangi Bhaijaan – 75% – Phantom BO opening page
Bajrangi Bhaijaan – 75% – Brothers BO opening page
If any have any doubt then visit these pages and verify. I hope Indicine will not reduce BB opening to 50% by the time Varunwale releases to show higher occupancy than BB !!!!!!! Please correct it Indicine or reply back with a valid explanation. Thanks !
I 100% sure movie will mark 15 cr…
Baby Opening – 7.84, Gabbar Is Back Opening – 12.64 & Brothers Opening – 13.04. Now waiting for Welcome Back Opening. Tomorrow will be clear who is bigger. John Abraham & Akshay Kumar.
Who cares it will struggle to cross 100 crores. The producers lost a golden opportunity to encash on its prequel’s popularity by not casting Akshay
Good Movie. Must Watch. Don’t believe Akshay Flop Kumar Fans COMMENT.
Happy to see it has opened well.absence if akki is its biggest usp
if akki had starred in it it would hv been his 4th release in 8months so fatigue factor plus he would been fresh from the failure of bros while john is coming after a loved succesful film like madras cafe
