Most over-rated actress is much similar to yesterday’s Most over-rated actors poll. Today its the turn of the ladies.
They are hot, sexy, glamorous and manage to attract audience to theatres with their sex appeal alone. But most female stars today are non-actors. We truly miss someone like Madhuri Dixit who ruled more than a million hearts, a complete package whether it is song and dance routines, screen presence or onscreen histrionics. Today, its all about wearing the skimpiest of clothes and hitting headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Fortunately though, we do have a few able performers. Rani Mukherji was brilliant in Black, Kajol continues to be one of the best there is, Priyanka Chopra is improving with each film and some others like Kangna Ranaut, Asin, Genelia D’Souza could be superstars of tomorrow.
Unfortunately, there are a few, who probably don’t deserve to be right there at the top. Go ahead and vote for your most over-rated actress. Hope we did not miss out on any popular actress.

Rani Mukherji, Kajol and Madhuri are way over-rated. Sure, they are decent actresses but even the most mundane performance of theirs is praised to the sky.
Aishwarya, Deepika, and Katrina aren’t even rated (most say they cannot act) so when people say they are “over-rated”actresses I really have a hard time understanding that.
Most over rated: Shilpa Shetty, katrina Kaif (Can’t recall any memorable movies that they acted in.) They don’t have the substance to be even called actresses.
DEEPIKA PADUKONE….all I can say is u are LOL….bad bad very bad acting. Though good looking.
Ash is the most over rated actress. she has beauty which is just skin deep. she has to be picture perfect in each scene. i have yet to see her in a movie without make up. she uses her influence/people (Salman/now the Bachan surname) to keep alive in the industry. Bipasha and Hrithik outshone her in Dhoom2. Kareena etc are more talented.
Saifa– Ash is not my favorite actress (that honor goes to Rani) but have you seen her in the British film “Provoked”? She is not picture perfect in that film at all. It was some fantastic acting, too. Really.
I will admit I’ve never seen a Katrina Kaif movie, but my vote went to Kareena Kapoor. Sometimes she’s okay, but most of the time her acting is just painful, and outside nightclub-type scenes, she can’t dance! It’s terrible watching her try to dance next to Hrithik Roshan: It’s like watching an arthritic orangutan in Paris Hilton’s body trying to keep up with Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire. Sad. So sad. :(

Why the hype in the past years for this trashy actress?!! She’s good to be only in porn movies.. I respected her acting only in one movie (Murder) and it was a step for her to go high.. by doing some good movies and good roles.. but all she did was: spreading her sexy cheap photos on websites and do movies to show her nice figure.. so she downgraded herself.. in according, I don’t like her voice.. let’s see what she will do in her upcoming movie hissss.. hope it’s a good movie.

According to me…….
1. Kareena Kapoor is the most over-rated actor. Apart from Jab we met and Chameli, I don’t remember any of her movies in which she has acted well. She is just good for exposing now a days.
2. Deepika Padukone comes second as being over-rated. she is getting all the fame just because She got into the bollywood with the big names like SRK, Akshay and Saif. Acting wise, She is 4 out of 10.
3. Ash and Kat (Salman’s ex and Salman’s Current gf) according to me share no.3 spot of being most over-rated. They both got into the big league in bollywood because of Salman Khan.
Ash is just kinda show off girl. She just tries to prove that she is larger than life but she doesn’t know that nobody is perfect in this world. She doesn’t have a single movie under her belt where you can feel that she acted well. HDDCS was Salman’s and Ajay Devgan’s movie. Devdas was SRK’s movie. Now Jodha Akbar was Hrithink’s movie. In all these movies, any other actress could have easily fit Ash’s role. Her other movies which is a long list have all failed at the boxoffice.
Kat on the other hand as we all know can’t really get out of her British accent. In most of her movies that are hits, She was just for the purpose of putting some glamour into the films.
And Fathiya: How can you say that Mallika Sherawat is over-rated???? Nobody even bothers to include her in Actors’ list, So how can she be over-rated? She came into bollywood with only one purpose and that is to make men happy watching her stupid acts with short clothes in her movies and i think she is doing great job. And believe me, if Indian Censor board allows nudity in the movies, She will be the first one to be seen totally nude on screen.
The best actress in that list is Kajol by far followed by Madhuri, Rani and Preity.
Fahad…i totally agree with you. Madhuri, Sridevi, Kajol and Rani are on a league of their own. Ash’s attitude just puts me off as well.

Fahad.. in the past 3 years.. everyone was talking about Malika as if she’s the queen of bollywood! on interviews, on koffee with karan.. on websites.. everyone was considering her as a super woman.. a super sexy, etc.. and her name is mentioned in the above list.. there4 I picked up her name as the most over rated actress!!
And about Aishwariya.. you’re wrong Fahad.. yeah she’s a bit arrogant but she’s a good actress.. if u want to judge her acting watch her movie Provoked.. then you’ll know that she’s the only bollywood actress who got the beauty with talent, then comes Priyanka, Karina, Rani & Katrina.. Katrina’s acting improved in New York.

Fathiya……… You might have your own opinion about Ash but I really don’t think that She deserves to be where she is right now…… She has all the Media attention just because she belongs to Bachchan Family and has some good brands under her belt. I haven’t seen Provoked but I have seen some of her other international films like Mistress of Spices (What the hell was that?) and one other movie Bride and Prejudice. Those movies suck…… I don’t know may be She might have acted well in Provoked but is it really enough to count her among top actresses when there is a long list of movies like Shabd, Raincoat, Kuch na kaho, Kyun ho gaya na, umrao Jaan etc etc the list continues……… where she was a big torture for viewers…..Infact In Umrao Jaan, I went to see the movie with my friends first day first show and believe me within half an hour 50% of the people in the whole theatre left including us as we could not tolerate the torture…..
Kat, She has acted well in New York. No doubt about that but still Has she come out of her British accent???? We will have to wait and watch as I really don’t think that she can make her space as a good actress unless She looks like a pure Indian……But still a long way to go for her to achieve that………..

Please the Aishwarya bashing on here is ridiculous. She has performed well in a number of movies – Iruvar, Jeans, Taal, HDDSC, Devdas, Provoked, Raincoat, Chokher Bali, Guru, Jodhaa Akbar and Sarkar Raj. Aishwarya is not a natural actress but does well with a good director.
Now when we talk about overrated we need to focus on Katrina (completely useless), Priyanka (acts good once in a blue moon), Kareena (mainly overacts except for a rare good performance), Bipasha and Shilpa and Mallika and Lara (good for only sexy roles which require no acting), Sonam and Deepika (have shown nothing yet).
The best actress is Tabu but she has been in some stinkers too. Madhuri was good in some movies and terrible in others. The others like Rani and Preity stick to big banners (YRF and Dharma) so are limited and annoying. Vidya started out good but sunk and now is boring on screen.
Fahad: the movies which u mentioned for Aishwariya weren’t some great ones, except Umrao Jaan… as well as (taal) which she did a good job, I can’t argue about Umrao Jaan, but I enjoyed watching this movie, and her performance was so good specially in the last quarter of the movie.. the dialogue with her mom.. but people’s taste for movies is just different.. while I enjoy a movie, a serious one, some others get bored and don’t like it, similar to some cheap comedy movies.. some ppl don’t stop laughing while watching some crap.. and some look at them at cinema surprisingly! that why these ppl r laughing this way?! what’s so funny in those scenes.. it’s all because we’re different ppl.. what I find interesting, others might not.. to each is his won.
Shabd, Mistress of Spcies, Bride & Pre.. Kiyo hogaya no.. these r some crap movies which Aish didn’t hv to pay effort in terms of acting.. didn’t require any good performance.. but the most difficult one which required her performance was (Provoked) it’s a MUST see movie.. and I’m sure..when u watch it you’ll change yr opinion about her specially that the movie is based on a true story ( and in the special feature of the dvd.. you’ll see the real character.. it’s about a hindu married woman who was tortured, abused by her husband and she burned him while he’s asleep, happened in 1989 in London) everyone loved this movie in our country and everyone praised it.
Kajol, Rani, Priyanka, they’re all good actresses, but for me, no one is as good as Madhuri Dixit.. she’s the best, and it’s a loss for bollywood that she got married and settled in US, left the industry.
Lots of ppl here mentioned Shilpa as a bad actress.. what I think she’s not a bad actress because she proved that she’s a good actress when she played her role in ( Phir Milinge) with Salman Khan.. but she’s unlucky.. she doesn’t get good roles in good movies.. that’s what I think about Shilpa.. as well as Bipasha.. Bipasha’s acting in Bachna Aeh Hasino was just good.. she also needs some good roles in good movies.

And ppl please… don’t repeat like parrots what others would say about stars .e.g Aish is the Bachan’s there4 she is big now.. SRK works under big banners..just see the performance of each actor and then judge accordingly!
I think I will have to see “Provoked” to get convinced by you Fathiya…..And For Umrao Jaan, Let me tell you that I still like the older version. Rekha was too good in that movie and Ash in the new version was just trying to copy Rekha so the performance was looking faked. I don’t know, may be I am wrong but I didn’t like her at all in that movie. Anyway, I am still not convinced. After watching “Provoked” may be my opinion changes.
For Raam : i watched all aish’ movies, except 2 or 3 of them, the tamils ones, and my opinion is just the same : SHE CAN’T ACT!! sorry but it’s my own opinion, when i watch her in movies I can’t feel anything! When she cry i found it soooo artificial, when she laugh it’s just toooo much. For me she’s ways far from “Good Actress” level! She’s even soooo far for “Actress!!”
For Fathiya and Fahad : seem opinion as Fahad, the oldest version of Umrao Jaan is the betest!! Rekha was just amazing!
For Provoked, i saw the movie, but aish didn’t bluff me! Naveen’s performance in the movie was fantastic! But aish i didn’t like her at all
Over rated is Katrina, Kareena and Aishwarya!
Madhuri, Kajol, and Priyanka are the only three who have worked so hard to get to the point in their careers. They deserve their success and did not make it solely on a star name(like Kareena) or just looks(like Katrina and Aishwarya).
Fahad: you’ll admire her in this movie for sure.. you know why? because I too didn’t like Aishwariya in the past.. I used to say: she’s like a babie doll.. she’s a beauty with no soul.. but after watching her performance in Taal, then Provoked.. I liked her, specially in Provoked, Taal is old, but Provoked, maybe 3 years ago at maximum.. I can’t remember the year the movie was released.
And about Umrao Jaan and Rekha.. well.. let me express my opinion comparing the new UJ with the old one.
I know u guys loved the old Umrao Jaan, but I didn’t see it in the past.. I saw the new version first.. there4 I loved the movie so much, the story touched me, Aishwariya deserved the award for her role in this movie.. but I think u all while watching the new version.. you couldn’t concentrate on any thing in this movie because u just didn’t accept the remake.. u all thought in yr mind thought that the old version was ok.. so why the remake?!
And after everyone praised Rekha.. I watched the old one.. and believe me.. I didn’t find anything extra-ordinary in her acting throughout the movie except in the last scene.. and there were (big) flaws in the old version which I couldn’t find in the new one ( and that’s because the director or the script writer was aware of the flaws in the original one.. there4 they did the remake in a better shape!) but u guys couldn’t sense anything.. now tell me Fahad – as u loved the old version – didn’t u notice the following:
1) Umrao who was “Ameeran” a decent girl from a decent family who was kidnapped and was sold to a lady who looked after her just to turn her into a prostitute.. could you accept the scene where Naseerudin Shah flirts with her, gifts her.. then she smiles and accepts to sleep with him?!! that’s a big big flaw because she’s suppose to be a good decent girl who refuses any man touching her except the man whom she’s in love with! and that’s the main point in the story.. that Ameeran didn’t want to be a prostitute and wanted to get love and marry.. live a decent life.
2) Rekha accepts when her lover informs her that he’ll not marry her and then he sends her invitation card for his wedding ( and see Rekha’s reaction in this scene!! she beats him with her both hands as if he promised to marry her and he didn’t?!!
2 big flaws in the old version.. there4 I didn’t like it.. and Aishwariya’s acting was so good.. I recommend you to watch the new version again and then get the old one and compare.. the old one wasn’t that great in direction, but the remake was.. and I’m so sorry that this movie didn’t do well at the box office.
