With the main contenders for most Best Actor awards every year (read Shahrukh, Aamir and Hrithik) having no releases so far this year, the main contenders are Shahid Kapoor for Kaminey, Salman Khan for Wanted, Saif Ali Khan for Love Aaj Kal and Akshay Kumar for Kambakht Ishq – all of whom, quite ironically, have never won the Best Actor award.
Critically, Shahid Kapoor’s performance received immense appreciation, but the movie hasn’t fared as well as it was expected to commercially, which probably could be the only reason Shahid “may not” win the award this year. Since its the ‘popular’ awards we are talking about, performances in movies that don’t fare well commercially are usually ignored (not the case always though, Shahrukh Khan won the Filmfare Best Actor award for his character of Mohan Bhargav in the box disaster Swades)
Salman Khan’s performance in Wanted too has been well-praised, both by critics and audiences. The other two lesser contenders are Akshay and Saif.
The last 3 months of the year though, have some great movies lined up for release starring actors who could challenge Shahid’s performance this year. Here are some of the performances to look forward to

- Saif Ali Khan in Kurbaan (releases November 27th 2009)
- Amitabh Bachchan in Paa (releases December 4th 2009)
- Ranbir Kapoor in Rocket Singh (releases December 11th 2009)
- Akshay Kumar in Blue (releases October 16th 2009)
- Salman Khan in Main Aur Mrs Khanna (releases October 16th 2009)
- Aamir Khan in 3 Idiots (Christmas 2009)
- Hrithik Roshan in Kites (release date not confirmed)

Finally there will be some1 new to win best actor this year. No shahrukh and no Hrithik means there will definetely be a new best actor. The competition is really between Shahid kapoor, Saif ali khan and Salman khan. Out of all of them i really think shahid will win even though Salan mamnd Saif were awesome!!!!

Ranbir Kapoor deserves to be the best nbut since he isn’t here I’ll vote Shahid Kapoor. He has acted brilliantly in Kaminey. The double role acting is not easy. Not SRK or Amir or that Salman it is Shahid Kapur.

i think salman khan desereves more den others.wanted is d biggest hit so far in 2009,so it increases salmans chances more.even though shahid was more critically acclaimed.salman nd ajay rocked ld but d movie didnt proove 2 b fruitful,so no chances for ny of dem 2 bag an award for london dreams.

craz in the fan r going down bcz salman’s movies r releasing one after the another in no time. london dream would have release after one month or some time bcz matches b/w aus-ind trouble the movie ultimately the movie didnot make well in box office as fans were accepting

Why is the bollywood film industry so fickle? Y can’t Shahid kapoor win just because thw movie did not do well?
I think Neil Nitin Mukesh will be a contender (supporting role in New york and lead role in Jail)
John Abraham for leading actor in New York but he will not win because Abhishek Bachchan will get nominated for Paa as well as Amitabh Bachchan for Paa.
Salman Khan will not win but will get nomination for London Dreams.
Aamir Khan nominated for 3 idiots and Saif Ali Khan for Kurbaan.
Bollywood will never be like Hollywood if the filmfare awards are seen as the main awards in India.

i would like to support for akshay kumar, because he had done the highest record sitll now from the movie singh is king in 2008. and he has given another bluckbuster movie kambakht iskq , that also one of the bluckbuster movie in 2009and the de dana dan hit the box office. mainly we have to see, what will happen in the future for the best actor award. but my vote is directly goes to akshay and i lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve akshey, you are the best.

I m Really getting annoyed and why shouldn’t I??? This award functions are freaking me out.Salman gives his heart and soul perfectly unique perfofmance but never gets an award.
last time he Get an best actor award was seasons ago.I mean why didn’t he gets any award when his fims are hits .Even his films are the big legends he doesn’t gets award.
During 80’s he did never forgetting films like HAHK but didnot get awarded and not only that all the superb hits like andaz apna apna,tere naam,jab kisise pyar hota hai and so on recod breaking films which he did got famous and loved but he didnot get a award.
