Vote: Best Bollywood Movie (Film) of 2008!
The biggest award of the year, Best Bollywood Movie of 2008! Out of more than 300 films that released in Bollywood in the year 2008, a select few have scored at the box-office and received appreciation. Its time to vote for the best! Here are the nominations for the Best Bollywood film of 2008.
1. Jodha Akbar : The first quality release of the year was Jodhaa Akbar and it arguably remains the Best film of the year. Fantastic performance by Hrithik Roshan as Akbar and great direction by Ashutosh Gowariker who is probably one of the best directors in the country today. Not to forget the music by A.R Rehman.
2. Fashion : Directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, Fashion exposed the hard realities of the Fashion Industry. The film was a bit slow in pace but brilliant direction and great performances more than made up for it.
3. Ghajini – When it comes to quality Aamir is No 1. With Ghajini he proved he is No 1 at the box-office too. Ghajini was a well directed, box office hurricane that was filled with brilliant performances by Aamir Khan and Asin.
4. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi : Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai, Yaara Mein Kya Karu. The audience saw Rab in the movie, the result a box-office blockbuster!
5. Mumbai Meri Jaan : Fascinating film on the Serial Blasts in local trains in Mumbai. Fantastic performances!
6. Jannat : Emran Hashmi scored big time at the box-office with Jannat. Nothing great, but worth a watch.
7. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na : Directed by Abbas Tyrewala who wrote the dialogues of Munnabhai Films, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was a run away hit at the box-office. The movie mostly appealed to the younger generation. Imraan Khan was a star overnight!
8. Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! – Again one of those underrated movies. Abhay Deol is a very natural performer and truly has the potential to be a big star. His selection of scripts is fantastic.
9. Singh Is King – He was celebrated as the box-office king till a week ago i.e until Chandni Chowk To China released. Now the very same media, has literally ditched him. But Akshay is a King, a master entertainer and the only reason behind the success of Singh Is King! He will make a comeback and the very same media will sing his praises yet again!
10. Dasvidaniya : Most under-rated film of the year. If this movie starred a SRK – Hrithik – Aamir, it would have easily sweeped most awards. Vinay Pathak delivered his best performance. Must watch, if you haven’t already.
11. Dostana – The Abhishek – John – Priyanka film on Gays, Love and friendship did reasonably well at the box-office. The movie was funny, but the story did not connect.
12. A Wednesday – Brilliant film, if India had awards like the Oscars, it would have been tough competition between Jodha Akbar and A Wednesday. Naseeruddin Shah was mind blowingly fantastic supported well by the reliable Anupam Kher.
13. Rock On – The unexpected success of the year. Farhan Akhtar the renowned director proved that he was equally talented at acting, Arjun Rampal delivered his best performance. The music was a huge success.
14. Sarkar Raj – Ram Gopal Varma’s best film in a long long time. Great comeback after the mega disaster called Aag. Sarkar Raj was a well directed film with powerful performances.
15. Bachna Ae Haseeno – Could have been much better, especially the second half. Ranbir and Deepika were fantastic.
16. Aamir – We said, “If India had awards like the oscars….” add Aamir to the list.. How could we forget this film..! it was an unforgettable experience. Rajeev Khandelwal delivered a very intense performance. The climax was one of the best of 2008!

I love RNBDJ the most, but I think if it’s really based on the best movie of the year, I think it should go between Jodhaa Akbar or A Wednesday. Frankly speaking. I think the sequences ascending is correct [to me] it’s just the best movie and the runners-up.
