Upcoming Hindi Movies in 2013: Most Awaited

This is the second part of our list (Read Part 1) which enlists the films from April to June which have us, the viewer, excited. There are plenty of reasons a Hindi film can make us, the viewer, excited. The director (and his previous works), the cast, the story and the content can make us eagerly await the release of a film. As Bollywood is changing, the emphasis of the audience towards watching a film not starring a major Superstar is changing, as well.

So here are the remaining films in the second quarter of 2013 (April to June) that have our interest.

Upcoming Hindi Movies 2013

Aurangzeb (17th May 2013)

This film with be the second outing in Hindi cinema for both Arjun Kapoor and Prithivraj Sukumaran. Contrary to the title, this film is neither a period film nor is it about the Mughal ruler. This is supposed to be a remake of the 1978 film’ Trishul’, but we are not sure about that as hardly anything is known about this YRF backed film. Atul Sabharwal makes his debut as director with Aurangzeb. Rishi Kapoor and Jackie Shroff have important cameo roles to play. Also, Pakistani actor-singer Salman Agha’s daughter, Saasha Agha will make her debut in Bollywood with this film.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (31st May 2013)

This is THE biggie of the quarter. Ranbir Kapoor back after the huge success of ‘Barfi’ in a film directed by his best mate Ayan Mukherji (who directed the critically acclaimed Wake Up Sid before) with Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kalki Koechlin. This film was shot all over North India and is the story of a travel host and is supposed to be a coming-of-age story showcasing love of today. Pritam scores the music and from what we’ve heard he has delivered another classic soundtrack after Barfi and Cocktail last year. Also, Madhuri Dixit will be seen in an item number in this film. And although the trailer wasn’t too impressive, we are up on our toes to see this film.

Fukrey (14th June 2013)

Pulkit Samrat’s debut film may have bombed badly but he showed tremendous potential to land a second film like this. This is a youth centric film, produced by Excel Entertainment, set in Delhi and boasts of quite a talented cast – Richa Chaddha, Manjot Singh, Ali Faizal, Vishakha Singh and Priya Anand. Mrigdeep Singh directs and Ram Sampath scores the music for this one. So in a nutshell – the cast, the music director, the director, the story, the setting has us excited for this one.

Raanjhnaa (28th June 2013)

The Kolaveri star Dhanush (Rajnikanth’s son-in-law for the ones who still don’t know him) makes his Bollywood debut in this Aanand L. Rai directed film. Aanand’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ was one of the best films of 2011 and we are hoping Raanjhnaa will be another classic love story. A.R. Rahman has scored the music, which also stars Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol along with Dhanush. The stills that have come out from the shooting of the film have us looking forward to this film with eager anticipation.

Ghanchakkar (28th June 2013)

Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan pair up again after the Blockbuster ‘The Dirty Picture’ in this Rajkumar Gupta directed film. Rajkumar has proved his credentials with his first two films, but it remains to be seen how he tackles the comedy genre. This is a fun thriller about the married life of a couple. UTV Motion Pictures and Amit Trivedi have been on fine streaks lately, and we don’t expect that to change with Ghanchakkar.

A lot more than these 10 films are releasing in these 3 months, and we won’t be surprised if there’s a film which comes out of the blue and surprises one and all. After all, this is what the film business is all about – unpredictability.
