The teaser of Salman Khan’s Tubelight was released a couple of days ago. It was aired for the television audience across the Star TV network and for the internet audience on YouTube.
The response has been mixed and it’s probably the weakest teaser of a Salman Khan film in a long time.
Teasers of event films are released to generate ’instant craze’, which teasers of films like ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Sultan’ did get, but ‘Tubelight’ hasn’t. Even the ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ teaser had those commercial ingredients – India/Pakistan, Bajrang Bali ka bhakt, Action, Romance/Kareena and Nawazuddin for those lighter moments. ‘Tubelight’ lacks almost all of it and relies almost entirely on Salman.
This has left a section of the industry and trade wondering why a teaser was required in the first place – when it didn’t have action or those massy-elements that instantly generates hype around a film.
It could well be because the makers needed more time to get the trailer right and with less 2 months to go for the theatrical release, they wanted to put something out there for the fans and the audience.
The film has also been severely criticised across social and mainstream media for its similarities with the Hollywood film ‘Little Boy’ – even though the makers have officially credited it with ‘Story Based on the Original Film – Little Boy’ in the teaser itself.
Moving on to the more positive side of things, the response to the teaser simply does not matter. Salman Khan is too big at the moment and his films will be watched. Irrespective of the kind of response the teaser gets, audience are now saving money to watch his films during Eid.
Secondly, the mixed response to the teaser also means the makers have the opportunity to put all the negativity (Little Boy, etc) aside by the time the trailer releases in the last week of May.
And finally, the best part of the teaser seems to be Salman himself. The innocence of his character has generated curiosity and it’s not the usual Salman that we get to see during Eid.
You cannot expect a teaser like ETT, Sultan & Raees for a movie like Tubelight. All the teasers, trailers, YouTube views are no use if audience doesn’t turn up to watch the movie itself. Some recent examples are Bang Bang, Shivaay & Raees. And Salman never fails to attract audience on Eid.
Having said that Tubelight is a risky project going by Salman’s stature and I am sure Kabir-Salman combo will come out with winning colours !!!!!!!
Kyon Ki was one of my favourite movies and even Tubelight looks the same way wowww….
Kyon Ki was way more masterpiece than Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan. But, it is the audience of our country who run towards the movies like Baahubali, Bajrangi, Sultan.
Salman and kabir,always make people emotionally blackmail…..
Indicine has posted this article in drunken mode. Teaser get enthusiastic response and breaking every possible records, whether views or likes. Over 9M views with 330K likes in its first 41 hours on Youtube! and you are calling mixed response! You need treatment!

when we are saying the same than sallu fans barking like hell that srk fan ,hattets balah balah……. but truth is that sallu fan are behaving like andhbhakat even some sallu fans without watching teaser praising like hell even they don’t find it mixture of bb, little boy, barfi, and etc…..
According to me…its well made teaser and sets the expectations right. Now we know what to expect from the movie.

Thats why i didnt wanted to comment regarding the teaser..i couldn’t even understand what was it all about..
For me the teaser of Ek Tha Tiger still remains the best bollywood teaser along with the teaser of Raees..Tubelight may not be ur typical commercial event film but since it has salman khan so u eventually have huge expectations and can expect a big opening but more importantly this film will be about the lifetime businees..
I personally love salman khan more in action oriented heroism kind of roles rather than these innocent ones..

I found it intriguing but not entertaining like an ETT teaser or D2 or BB but still the interest to see a bhai film is at all time high especially since its been a yr or so since Sultan.
I think mass audiences will definitely save upto watch only Tubelight over next few months n Imsure the story /narration will connect with them like BB did.

Teaser clearly has some sort of WAR angle/ theme running in the background so Im sure there will be some action there whether it features bhai prominently or not is irrelevnt as our audience love that patriotic aspect of WAR so that wil please them immensely.
Is this teaser ?? Don’t know how many people teased,,,, but I m not certainly. Yes it will get the opening because of some blind fan but buzz is certainly looking below par on a salman khan film standard.
Tubelight teaser remind me of dangal trailer.In dangal only Aamir was selling point,no other big names,no other commercial ingredients of songs & over the top action but dangal was loved by all & become ATG.same with tubelight teaser,even I m bit confused & surprise by innocence in trailer.salman & Kabir is one of the best actor director Jodi so hoping for the best.may movie becomes Salman career biggest hit.

1. The teaser is better then Jai Ho ,BB & Sultan. Sultan had nothing except a Suplex.
2. Likes vs Dislike ratio etc is PR work.
3. Outside Social media no one is aware of Little Boy.
4. Its adopted not remake/Copying.
5. War scences & Sallu is there for mass .
6. Emotions & Humor is for every section.
7. If Kabir doesnlt spoil it, Tubelight will cross 300 cr.
8. For Indicine Dangal is not for masses, Kick vs Pk etc. They never get it right for Sallu & Aamir esp Aamir.

It’s almost impossible for Salman to try new things as the audiance always expect same massy films from him. I’m not a fan of him but I found Tubelight interesting. Sad to see that even some of his fans don’t accept that he may try new stuff… The same thing happened with SRK for Fan or Swades. Only Aamir is known to change with each project.
Rightly said…seemed Boring and strictly average Teaser…yes It will earn minimum 270-300 cr. Cause It has Bhaijaan!!but that doesn’t mean It has to be called a gem of a movie if It is not!!and now when It is clear that It’s script is not a fresh one then Interest is going down rapidly;atlst for me!!

It is an excellent teaser and very well timed as people would get out of that “Little Boy” adaptation factor in next few days. However, in my opinion we people from India and Pakistan believe more in miracles and are very emotional also, so boxoffice success of this concept is highly possible in this part of the world. If the director and actor will be able to convince the audience then sky is the limit for boxoffice collections. I believe people especially families with kids would love this movie and demand for a sequel.
