This iconic dialogue from Mr. Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaalia holds very true for all the biggest superstars in Bollywood, for they have been the trend setters, youth icons and most importantly the ATM’s of the industry. It’s now time for us to implement the concept of our newly introduced ‘Star Power model’ and find out the leading actors of our country. This piece will evaluate the Top 5 Superstars of 2014. Before proceeding, let us clarify on a few vital points.
1. In the initial stages, this ranking will purely be specific to a calendar year. We’ll judge the star power for a single year in one article, like this article focuses on 2014 only. These rankings shall not be based upon the overall career of any actor and there may be a scenario when the star power of an established superstar ‘A’ falls behind that of a new superstar ‘B’ in a particular year.

Key Findings
1. The difference between the actual opening collections and the star power of a star is nothing but a reflection of his career choices, script sense and marketing abilities. If the opening is higher than the star power for an actor, it means that he is making smart decisions by positively utilising the impact of X-Factors and vice versa.
2. Going by the above concept, Shahrukh Khan seems to playing his cards better than anybody else while Akshay Kumar is someone who is not exploiting his star power to the fullest.

Even in Srk’s so called worst period he has managed to remain in the Top 2.I guess haters have placed him on a pedestal and want him give ATBB with every alternate film
Salman khan has always great superstardom but he did not utilize it by primoting film and slam tours and main thing is lookat average ticket price always less than other this is called mass hero the megastar salman
But don’t you feel only good actors get to work with big banners and directors.I mean can you imagine Salman in a Raju movie..the answer is no because he lacks the skills to play diverse characters(BB is perhaps the only exception)
Aamir must be credited for the success of Pk since the movie wouldn’t have been as good as it turned out to be without Aamir’s flawless performance.It’s because of his dedication and talent he gets to work with big directors you can’t undermine that aspect of his

I always say both SRK nd Salman are only true superstars who can bring audiences on their shoulders within first weekend – no matter how good or bad movies it is – but they ensure good openings every time… even aamir lacks this power.. hrithik is also a mega puller when it comes to first day or weekend.. but SRK Salman ki line hi alag hai..

Obviously SRK’s star power is bigger than anyone else. Opening of HNY says it all. With a poor script, not so well received trailer and average music, opening of HNY was bigger than (Kick+Jai Ho) , though both released on holidays :P
I’m quite happy with this article indicine, because now-a-days, people are only bothered about lifetime collections. They should understand that if you will get a script like PK or 3 idiots, lifetime collections are automatically gonna boost significantly.

Previously I said that more importance should be given to directors . Many watched PK ONLY because it was a Raju Hirani film . But only 4% is deducted from PK collections .
At the same time , 4% was also deducted from HNY’s collections even though Farah Khan’s previous film was one of the most criticized films of all time .
