Top 15 Actors in Bollywood: August 2015

Updated list of Top 15 Actors in Bollywood as of August 2015. Who are the biggest gainers? Which actor has dropped down the list? Let’s find out!

The ranking system will also be divided into three; Top Actor in India, Overseas and Worldwide. The list below is for the Top 15 Actors in India i.e the domestic market only.

  • The list would be based on the net box office collections of an actor’s last five movies. For younger actors, the minimum number of films is 3.

  • Only lead roles would be considered. Cameos, special appearances and guest appearances won’t be taken under consideration.
  • Dated movies that released before 2007 have not been considered.
  • Only domestic box office collections is being taken into account. Collections from all regional versions have been taken into considering as this list is for the top actors in India and regional language releases affect Hindi business in their respective states. For example, Tamil version will affect business of Hindi version in Tamilnadu / Kerala circuit.

Top Actors In Bollywood 2015

Aamir Khan - Anushka Sharma PK

Rank 1 Aamir Khan: The combined collections of Aamir Khan’s last 5 films has crossed the 1000 crore mark, the first actor ever to do so. The ‘worldwide’ collections of Aamir’s last film PK, is more than the combined collections of Shahid’s last 5 films AND Emraan Hashmi’s last 5 films. Before the release of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, Aamir was ahead of all others, but the gap has closed quite considerably. There is very little to choose between the Top 2 actors in the industry today.

  • PK – 340 cr
  • Dhoom 3 - 285 cr
  • Talaash - 93 cr
  • 3 Idiots - 202 cr
  • Ghajini - 116 cr
  • Next film - Dangal (also read: Aamir Khan’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total - 1036 crore (Average per film: 207.2 cr)

Salman Khan and Harshali

Rank 2 Salman Khan: The superstar has become the second actor whose last films have collected Rs 1000 crore or more at the domestic box office. For Salman to beat Aamir, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ had to collect Rs 338 crore in India. Unfortunately, like Salman and Kabir’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ too has fallen just short of Aamir and Hirani’s ‘PK’. The good news is, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ has to collect Rs 218 or more in India for Salman to take the top spot once again! He also averages more than 200 crore for his last five films, something that only Aamir had achieved.

  • Bajrangi Bhaijaan – 320 cr
  • Kick - 233 cr
  • Jai Ho - 112 cr
  • Dabangg 2 - 154 cr
  • Ek Tha Tiger - 199 cr
  • Next film – Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (also read: Salman Khan’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total – 1018 crore (Average per film: 203.6 cr)

Shahrukh Khan Actor

Rank 3. Shahrukh Khan has dropped down to No 3 in the domestic markets, as his latest release ‘Happy New Year’ couldn’t match the collections of Chennai Express or Kick. For Shahrukh to beat Aamir, his ‘Diwale’ would have to collect Rs 372 crore in India! However, Shahrukh has 3 films lined for release in the next 11 months. If all those films perform well at the box office, the ranking could change in his favour.

  • Happy New Year – 204 cr
  • Chennai Express - 227 crore
  • Jab Tak Hai Jaan - 121 cr
  • Don 2 - 112 cr
  • Ra. One - 125 cr
  • Next film – Dilwale (also read: Shahrukh Khan’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total - 789 crore (Average per film: 157.8 cr)

Bang Bang - Hrithik Roshan stunt

Rank 4. The release of Bang Bang temporarily took Hrithik ahead of SRK at the domestic box office, but before Bang Bang finished its run, Happy New Year had already released in theatres. Hrithik’s average of 134 cr is fantastic, comparable to the Khans even though he doesn’t always get to release his films during Eid, Diwali or Christmas. To elaborate a little more on this, out of the last 5 films, all SRK films have released during one of the three festivals, except Jai Ho all Salman films have released during the three most lucrative periods in the industry and Aamir Khan too has preferred to release his films during Christmas (all except Talaash). Hrithik got just one Diwali release for Krrish 3 and made the most of it. He will be missing from action in 2015, as his next release is Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjodaro (August 2016). Till then, Hrithik is likely to hold on to his 4th position as Ranbir’s last two films have been box office disasters.

  • Bang Bang – 181 cr
  • Krrish 3 - 244 cr
  • Agneepath - 122 cr
  • Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara - 93 cr
  • Guzaarish - 32 cr
  • Next film – Mohenjo Daro (also read: Hrithik Roshan’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total - 672 cr (Average per film: 134.4 cr)

Akshay Kumar - Brothers

Rank 5 Akshay Kumar: For the first time since we started ranking actors, Akshay Kumar has made it to the Top 5. Ranbir’s downfall and the reasonably good box office performance of films like Baby and Gabbar Is Back have ensured a spot in the Top 5. However, all of his last three films, including the biggie ‘Brothers’, were expected to be 100 crore grossers. In fact, there were expectations that Brothers would be Akshay’s first 150 / 200 crore grosser. Unfortunately, the film hasn’t worked at the box office. It has an outside chance of breaking into the ‘100 crore club’, but at the time of writing this article (20 August), Brothers is likely to finish with lifetime collections of 90-95 crore.

  • Brothers – 90 crore (expected)
  • Gabbar Is Back – 86 crore
  • Baby – 96 crore
  • Entertainment – 72 cr
  • Holiday: A Solider Is Never Off Duty – 113 cr
  • Next film - Singh Is Bling (also read: Akshay Kumar’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total Collections: 457 cr (Average per film: 91.4 cr)

Rank 6 Ranbir Kapoor: His career was at an all-time high after the success of films like ‘Rockstar’, ‘Barfi’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, but the last couple of years have been terrible for Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Besharam’ tanked after a good opening day and ‘Bombay Velvet’ couldn’t even manage a face-saving opening at the box office. The film went on to be the biggest disaster of all time. Ranbir has also given away his spot in the Top 5 to Akshay Kumar. Will Imtiaz Ali (with Tamasha also starring Deepika Padukone) give him his much-needed hit?

  • Bombay Velvet – 24 crore
  • Besharam - 57 cr
  • Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani - 188 cr
  • Barfi! - 106 cr
  • Rockstar - 70 cr
  • Next film - Tamasha (also read: Ranbir Kapoor’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total - 445 cr (Average per film: 89 cr)

Rank 7 Ajay Devgn: Action Jackson failed at the box office and Drishyam under-performed too because of competition from other films. Ajay, however, has some massive films lined up for release. ‘Baadshaho’ under Milan Luthria’s direction. Their combination worked well for ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’. He also has his own directorial venture, the mega-budget film ‘Shivaay’ and the recently announced biggie ‘Sons Of Sardaar’ – both scheduled to release during Diwali. The next couple of years are expected to be huge for Ajay, as he starts working on films that are expected to be strong in content and are commercially viable too. It remains to be seen if he can get the right release date and avoid clashes with other films.

  • Drishyam – 72 cr* (expected)
  • Action Jackson – 57 cr
  • Singham Returns - 140 cr
  • Satyagraha – 58 cr
  • Himmatwala - 46 cr
  • Next film - Baadshaho (also read: Ajay Devgn’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total: 371 cr (Average per film: 74.6 cr)

Rank 8 Sidharth Malhotra: There is very little to choose between Sidharth and Ajay at this point in time. But the failure of ‘Brothers’ will hurt him. He has Dharma’s ‘Kapoor and Sons’ lined up for release early next year.

  • Brothers – 90 cr (expected)
  • Ek Villain - 103 cr
  • Hasee Toh Phasee - 35 cr
  • Student Of The Year - 70 cr
  • Next film - Kapoor and Sons (also read: Sidharth Malhotra’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total Collections – 298 cr (Average per film: 74.5 cr)

Rank 9 Varun Dhawan: Varun has featured in 5 films so far in his career and all have done well at the box office. He has earned his way into the list of Top 10 actors in the industry, what with ABCD 2 becoming the biggest grosser of his career and his first ‘100 crore’ film too. The release of ‘Dilwale’ will also be a huge boost to Varun’s career, as the Shahrukh Khan’s starrer will release in places where no Varun Dhawan film has released so far.

  • ABCD 2 – 105 cr
  • Badlapur – 52 cr
  • Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania – 77 cr
  • Main Tera Hero - 54 cr
  • Student Of The Year - 70 cr
  • Next film - Dilwale (also read: Varun Dhawan’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total Collections – 358 cr (Average per film: 71.6 cr)

Rank 10 Ranveer Singh: Even though Kill Dil failed at the box office, Ranveer Singh has gained one spot in the list. He is currently ranked No 12, but has two of the most promising films of 2015 in Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. Note: Dil Dhadakne Do has just released in theatres. If the film manages to collect Rs 100 crore, then Ranveer will make it to the Top 10.

  • Dil Dhadakne Do – 77 cr
  • Kill Dil – 32 cr
  • Gunday – 78 cr
  • Ram Leela - 115 cr
  • Lootera - 31 cr
  • Next film - Bajirao Mastani (also read: Ranveer Singh’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total Collections – 333 cr (Average per film: 66.6 cr)

Rank 11 Farhan Akhtar: His popularity with the multiplex audience in cities is under-rated. His solo film ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ not only took a good opening at the box office, but went on to collect more than Rs 100 crore. It also won Farhan his first Filmfare Best Actor award.

  • Shaadi Ke Side Effects – 38 cr
  • Bhaag Milkha Bhaag – 104 cr
  • Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – 93 cr
  • Karthik Calling Karthik - 27 cr
  • Next Film - Wazir
  • Total Collections – 262 cr (Average per film: 65.5 cr)

Rank 12 Saif Ali Khan: Happy Ending was one of the biggest disasters of 2014 and the failure of a film that was expected to recreate the magic of ‘Cocktail’, has meant that Saif is currently going through the worst phase of his career. He awaits the release of Kabir Khan’s Phantom later this month. The film has got a massive boost after the success of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.

  • Happy Ending – 22 cr
  • Humshakals - 63 cr
  • Bullet Raja- 36 cr
  • Race 2 - 102 cr
  • Cocktail - 78 cr
  • Next film - Phantom (also read: Saif Ali Khan’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total - 301 cr (Average per film: 60.2 cr)

Rank 13 Arjun Kapoor: The poor performance of Tevar has resulted in Arjun Kapoor dropping one spot down the list to No 13. His next film is ‘Ki and Ka’ also starring Kareena Kapoor.

  • Tevar – 40 cr
  • Finding Fanny – 36 cr
  • 2 States - 102 cr
  • Gunday - 78 cr
  • Aurangzeb - 23 cr
  • Next film - Ki and Ka (also read: Arjun Kapoor’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total Collections – 279 cr (Average per film: 55.8 cr)

Rank 14 Shahid Kapoor: The critical and commercial success of Haider has helped Shahid Kapoor go one spot up in the ranking. He sneaks ahead of Emraan Hashmi. It remains to be seen if Vikas Bahl’s Shaandaar will earn him a spot in the Top 10.

  • Haider – 58 cr
  • R.. Rajkumar - 65 cr
  • Phata Poster Nikhla Hero - 39 cr
  • Teri Meri Kahaani - 29 cr
  • Mausam - 33 cr
  • Next film - Shaandar (also read: Shahid Kapoor’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total Collections – 224 cr (Average per film: 44.8 cr)

Rank 15 Emraan Hashmi: Emraan’s career is at an all-time low. None of his last 5 films have even managed to cross the 40 crore mark. Will ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’, directed by Mohit Suri, turn things around for him?

  • Hamari Adhuri Kahani – 38
  • Mr X – 25
  • Ungli – 21 cr
  • Raja Natwarlal – 27 cr
  • Ghanchakkar - 39 cr
  • Next film - Azhar biopic (also read: Emraan Hashmi’s Upcoming Movies List)
  • Total collections – 150 cr (Average per film: 30 cr)

In no particular order, films releasing this year that could completely change the list

  • Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (likely to take Salman Khan to the top of the ranking)
  • Singh Is Bling (will decide if Akshay retains the 5th spot)
  • Dilwale (needs to collect about 372 crore for SRK to go past Aamir, could take Varun Dhawan into the Top 5!)
  • Bajirao Mastani (important film for Ranveer Singh)
  • Shandaar (Shahid deserves to be higher up in the ranking, will Shandaar do the trick?)
  • Tamasha (crucial film for Ranbir Kapoor after 2 back-to-back disasters)

  • Top 3 will stay the top 3 for a long time to come. I would say Aamir Khan and Salman Khan are almost tied at 1, SRK is the number 2/3 and then its the rest.

The gap between Salman/Aamir and SRK is massive and the gap between SRK and the rest, though not as big, is huge.

    Basically, the Khans rule.

  • Singh is Bling has to match holiday if Akshay Kumar has to retain 5th spot.lets see where it ends in lifetime total..
After Prem Ratan Dhan Payo salman Khan will become number one where he clearly belonged till eid 2013..infact,after the bumper opening of Bajrangi bhaijaan I would already rate salman Khan as number one superstar currently..
Shahrukh Khan’s Dilwale will also be huge but how big only time will tell..I don’t expect 372 crores from it but 272 crores is definitely on cards..it will be after the release of Fan and Raees that Shahrukh Khan will become number one again,a spot that he had held for the longest period amongst the three Khans.. Raone Don 2 and Jan tak hai jaan will be out of his list so he has high chances of scoring 1000 crore from last 5 releases because the lifetime business of these releases should be surpassed by his upcoming releases within a week itself..
Hrithik roshan will consolidate his 4th spot and should have another 200 crore grosser of his career..
And lastly, till December 2016 Shahrukh Khan and salman Khan will have their shot at the top spot before Aamir Khan once again comes up with his another box office juggernaut and as usual finishes the year as the number one superstar

  • PRDP will collect more than 350 Cr in India only. After November Salman will get his favourite position means No. 1 that never will be change.

  • after prdp salman will take no.1 spot and gape between aamir/salman will be huge by the way srk has no chance to take no.1 spot before his retirment

  • Just look at the gap between average of Aamir/Salman and Total collections of Emraan Hashmi. This shows their dominance. Now some srk fans will call this ranking as fake or incorrect and will demand to compare career list and not last 5 movies. Even if we compare career list, remove all festive releases from all 3 Khans filmographies and check who gets maximum number of hits !!!!!!!!!! I am sure Srk will not in top in that list as well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great to see Akki at 5,hope Singh I is bling does well as Holiday won’t be counted next time when the ranking is made.
Ranbir has good chances to surpass him again though with Deepika’s Tamasha.

Hrithik is quite secured at no.4 till Mohenjo daro

  • Really don’t understand how Sidharth ranks higher than Varun when not all of his films have done well, but Varun’s has. And Varun can take credit for most of his films where Sid has had co-stars, holliday release, music etc to help him.

  • Giving Dilwale’s collections in Varun’s account in quite unfair to the likes of Akki,Ajay and Ranbir!!

Varun’s solo movies can’t get close to 200crs but he’ll score that much with Srk’s help.

  • Aamir- Salman: Undisputed Kings of Bollywood !
SRK is just way too behind.
Forget 372, Dilwale won’t even do 250 domestically.

  • Salman will be surely no.1 after PRDP and then again he will continue supreme at indian box office for more than two years. Srkians expecting miracle only.

  • Who is best newcomer?

    Siddharth, Varun, Arjun or Ayushman?

Mine are Salman & Aamir. 2009-2010 se accha kar rahe hain.

  • SRK has 3 films and Salman 2 before Dangal arrives.
Total 5 more Khan films before Dangal but only 1 has the potential to cross 300 Crores realistically i.e. PRDP.
Dilwale: Average content like CE, clash with BM.
Fan: Non-holiday during IPL. No Chance!
Raees- Sultan: None would cross 250 if clash ain’t averted.
Let’s just say PK record is safe till Dangal.

  • @indicine fabulous article bt can’t blv u hv still kept emmy in top15 despite his last 7 films flopping miserably and avg being just30cr

Plz replace him with abhishek bachchan or
    Sushanth or john abhraham

  • @indicine
You always present the Domestic Rankings’ article but not the Overseas or Worldwide.
Waiting for those. This article is becoming repetitive.

  • @indicine u guys are really funny. u are saying harithik doesn’t get festive release which the khans have to be the top star, so who stops harithik to not release his movies on festive periods(Eid,Xmas etc)? Bcoz he doesn’t have starpower to kick out the Khans movies on festive periods. Tell me @indicine who doesn’t want to release their movie on Eid , Xmas? But they know The Khans movies are already their and nobody can challenge the khans. They are enjoying different league.

  • Singh Is Bling big score on boxoffice at least 120cr sure…!!! Akki back his favorite genre Comedy & Action. Dhamaka on 2nd October.

  • Indicine, who is the most consistent star in BOLLYWOOD ‘SRK’ REALLY,
YES in 90’s his all major blockbusters were released during festival(i.e.DIWALI)
AAMIR & SALMAN didnt release their movies on festival & therefore SRK was king.
NOW COMPARE HIS ALL NON-FESTIVE & FESTIVE MOVIES WITH AAMIR & SALMAN.
    ‘FEATIVE’ RELEASED
    1.DDLJ, vs HAHK(HAHK HIGHEST GROSSER)
    2.KKHH vs RAJA HINDUSTANI(RH )
    3.DON 2 vs Dhoom 3(D3)
    4.Chennai express vs KICK (KICK)
    NOW COMPARE ‘NON FESTIVE’
    1.LAGAAN vs SWADESH
    2.PBDHH VS SARFAROSH
    3.PAHELI vs TERE NAAM
    4.MNIK vs TALASH
still I M not cosidering 3I,pk,BB,BCOZ SRKs list are over.
SO PLZ CONSIDER all these facts before giving verdict.

  • no One can match srk in overseas market
srk is superstar of all time
    salman only after dabbang 2010
Amir only with Raja hirani & doom brand
    akki Always 80-90 cr superstar
ajay without rohit = O superstar
Ranbeer he is not a superstar
