Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama has put up a very interesting list of Top 12 Actors in the industry, based on the box office collections of films of each actor, overseas and India combined.
The Top 3 stars have all appeared in 3 films, Aamir Khan as expected tops the list by quite a distance. He is followed by Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan at 2 and 3. Akshay Kumar is at Number 4 appearing in more than 10 films, followed by Saif Ali Khan and Ranbir Kapoor.
Salman Khan is down at No 7 ahead of Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Shahid Kapoor, Imran Khan and Ajay Devgan.
With Veer, My Name Is Khan, Housefull, Kites, Rajneeti set for release in the first half of the year, except some changes in the list.

1) Crap films, critically thrashed yet his average worldwide share is more than half of SRK, Hrithik.
2) Number of films, 4 times to the Top 3 while maintaining a healthy average – not easy.
The man has immense star power, but just isn’t smart enough.

Raincheck for Akshay Kumar fanbase: His last three films, namely Blue, Kabhakkt Ishq and that debacle Tasveer have contributed to his positioning, all three starred him in a leading role and they all uncategorically bombed at the BO, Had Askhay Kumar not made those 3 films, who knows? Could have been in the top 3.
Finally Salman Khan fans get a reality check: Where where you guys during God Tussi Great, Yuvraaj and London Dreams? All films boasted Salman in a leading role and they all BOMBED. If you want your hero to do well, go and watch his films rather than BOAST THAT THEY WILL DO WELL. Nuff said.
The top 3 for me is spot on.
Aamir is top, great actor and producer, has had a dream run in TZP, Ghajini and 3 idiots have been brilliant. Deserves no 1 after a fine last 2 years, where he had a super hit and 2 all time blockbusters. Also proved his credentials as a Director.
Shahrukh Khan: Another great actor and producer, he entertained in Om shanti Om, proved his acting critics wrong in Chak De India and made us laugh in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. All three i understand where blockbusters, even Chak De! India, which started slowly and was not billed as a bluckbuster due to its theme.
Hritik Roshan: The Worlds first superhero, one of the best villains and Emperor Akbar is what Hritik Roshan gave us, they all where Blockbusters, hasnt released any films lately but Kites looks very good.
Isnt it interesting that the top 3 have done only three leading role films each in the past 4 years? Is it a case of quality over quantity for those 3 unlike Salman and Akshay.
Each of the top three have given big hits in every LEAD ROLE films that they have made.
Aamir shouldnt have the highest International gross, 3 idiots has helped that number considerably. SRK has always had a firm grip on the overseas audience, so I was surprised with the gap between him and Aamir on the international scene. I expect that will change when My Name Is Khan and Kites release, both are much bigger international films. But Aamir can be sure too keep a firm grip on number 1 as far as India is conerned, dont think My Name is Khan, Kites, Veer or Housefull will get anywhere close 3 Idiots, although a few of them may break Ghajini depending on content (take off Housefull, only 3 have a chance of breaking Ghajini XD). Sorry AK fans, but i hold Akshay Kumar in no regard.
