Note: Click on the song title for the lyrics.

1. Tum Hi Ho (Aashiqui 2): After composing popular tracks for films like ’The Train’ and ‘Murder 2’, music composed Mithoon finally gets his much-deserved ‘chartbuster’ success. The unprecedented box office success of Aashiqui 2 has given this brilliant music album a further boost. Internet, Radio stations, television channels, cafes, clubs.. Tum Hi Ho is everywhere.  The makers have managed to live upto the sky-high standards set by ‘Aashiqui’ in 1990. Arijit Singh who impressed one and all with ‘Phir Mohabbat’ of Murder 2 is the voice of May 2013.

2. Sun Raha Hai (Aashiqui 2): Promoted as the love anthem of the year, ‘Sun Raha’ is yet another fantastic melody from Aashiqui 2. Ankit Tiwary has sung the male version which is combined with fast beats for a stage performance. Shreya Ghoshal has rendered her vocals for the female song which is soft, slow and soulful. Both are versions are equally magical.

3. Badtameez Dil (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani): When it comes to Hindi songs, any Top 10 list would be incomplete without a Pritam Chakraborty composition. After the musical success of Race 2 and Murder 3, Pritam is in full form yet again with his first Dharma Productions movie. Benny Dayal is yet another underrated singer, who has sung some fantastic songs like ‘Tu Hi Meri Dost Hai’, ‘Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gayi’ and ‘Daaru Desi’. The song’s video is catching like a house on fire as youth heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor is back on celluloid after almost a year.

4. Chahoon Main Ya Na (Aashiqui 2): Pritam and Jeet started their career together with the music of YRF’s ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’. Pritam is in the top league now and Jeet has shown his immense talent with this song. Arijit Singh rendered this with Palak. Aashiqui 2 is undoubtedly the best album of 2013 so far.

5. Balam Pichkari (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani): Pritam is a master of this genre. He has mixed all the ingredients of a popular dance number in this song which is going to register its name in list of Top Holi Songs of Bollywood. Lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya are creative with lines like ‘Jeans pehen ke jo tune maara thumka to lattoo padosan ki bhabi ho gayi’. Sureshot winner!

6. Laila (Shootout At Wadala): With success of SAW has raised the popularity of its songs, especially the massy item song ‘Laila’ picturized on Sunny Leone. Composed by the talented but almost extinct Anand Raj Anand, the song is sung by master singer of item numbers – Mika.

7. Slowly (Go Goa Gone): A song perfect for night clubs and dance parties from this week’s release ‘Go Goa Gone’. Sachin-Jigar have composed a number full of beats and energy and Talia Bentson’s vocals are just too additictive and catchy. Film’s music is catching up and can rise further based on the movie’s outcome at the ticket window.

8. Saadi Galli (Nautanki Saala): The multi-talented Ayushmann rocked the nation in 2012 with his singing and composition for ‘Paani Da Rang’ from Vicky Donor, which also won him the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer Male. He is back again with another Punjabi flavored romantic song with an attempt to recreate the magic of ‘Paani Da Rang’. Worth a listen!

9. Yamla Pagla Deewana (Title): The Deols are back with a bang with a sequel to ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’. The first movie’s title song was a recomposition of old Dharmendra song but the title song of the sequel is a completely original number. It gets the bouncy rhythm and hook perfectly and the album is the one to look out for in future.

10. Give It Up For Bachchan (Bombay Talkies): In a movie celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema, Amit Trivedi has given a tribute to the star of the Millenium ‘Amitabh Bachchan’. Sung energetically by Sukhvinder, song is intelligently choreographed covering most of the massy avatars of Big B.
