Top 10 Hindi Songs: August 2013

Top 10 Bollywood Songs of August 2013

1. Lungi Dance (Chennai Express): Yo Yo Honey Singh is the flavour of the season. His rap rocked big time in movies like Cocktail, Son Of Sardar and Khiladi 786. But this time he has not only rapped but composed and sung the most popular song of the biggest hit of 2013 so far. Lungi Dance is rocking the charts everywhere with its unique lyrics like ‘Ghar mei jaake tum google karlo, mere baare mei wikipedia pe padhlo’.

2. Tum Hi Ho (Aashiqui 2): Undoubtedly, ‘Tum Hi Ho’ is the best song of 2013 till now. Expectations will be sky-high from the next projects of Mithoon with Bhatts as their combo has yeilded golden results in ‘Murder 2’ and now ‘Aashiqui 2’. Just like ‘Aashiqui’ (1990), the sequel will also be remembered ever for its soulful music.

3. Titli (Chennai Express): Chennai Express has exceeded all the expectations and is well on course to become the biggest Bollywood grosser ever. King Khan is ruling the charts all over again with this romantic track. This is 4th consecutive hit and second blockbuster in a row for Deepika Padukone.

4. Zinda (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag): The choosy music director trio of Ehsaan, Shankar and Loy have composed for all the movies starring or directed by Farhan Akhtar. ‘Zinda’ track boasts of some innovative motivational lyrics penned by super talented Prasoon Joshi. Shankar’s son Siddharth has filled passion and energy in the song with his vocals. The success of the movie has raised the popularity of the music further.

5. Ye Tune Kya Kiya (Once upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara): Pritam is enjoying a great year with ‘Race 2′ and blockbuster’Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’. OUATIMD’s music album will evetually face the consequence of the below expected movie’s performance. Sung beautifully by Pakistani singer Javed Bashir, ‘Ye Tune Kya Kiya’ grows on the listener on repeated hearings. Dialog writer Rajat Arora has penned some extraordinary lyrics for this song picturized on Akshay Kumar.

6. Tum Tak (Raanjhanaa): A.R.Rahman’s music seldom goes unnoticed. Since the film has become a hit, ‘Raanjhanaa’ music album has gained more popularity in the charts. A song with a blend of romantic and spiritual elements, ‘Tum Tak’ has been beautifully crooned by Javed Ali. Irshad Kamil has excelled big time in the lyrics department.

7. Badtameez (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani): Although ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ might have moved down the charts due to huge inflow of big movies this month, it remains the second best musical album of 2013 after ‘Aashiqui2’. Pritam has rocked the charts with Race 2 and YJHD and can enter again next month with ‘Phata Poster Nikla Hero’. But the icing on the cake is ‘Dhoom 3’ towards the end of the year.

8. Sawaar Loon (Lootera): Balaji is definitely facing a tough time as a production house. ‘Lootera’ was much appreciated but failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box-office. Amit Trivedi’s music especially ‘Sawaar Loon’ is getting universal popularity. Song features a great combination of meaningful lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, mesmerizing vocals by Monali Thakur.

9. Jeene Laga Hoon (Ramaiya Vastavaiya): The box-office success of a movie is directly propotional to the success of its music album as well. This track beautifully sung by Atif and Shreya was gaining popularity but has slowed down due to film’s below average performance at the ticket window. Sachin-Jigar is a promising talent to watch out for in future.

10. Sun Raha Hai (Aashiqui 2): Even though ‘Sun Raha Hai’ will probably not be there in next list, it will remain one of the most loved songs of the year. The magical track is sung by Ankit Tiwary and written by Sandeep Nath. Female version is more of an unplugged kind highlighting the sweetness of Shreya’s deep soothing vocals.
