Top 10 Highest Screens and Theatres: Release size of Hindi films

With multiplexes cropping up all over the country, the release size of Hindi films is getting wider with every big release. PVR Cinemas is the biggest player with more than 420 screens (average of 4-5 screens per theatre) in 40 cities. They also own 69.27% stake in Cinemax, which has 140 screens in the country. The other multiplex chains are Big Cinemas, Fame Cinemas, Fun Cinemas, INOX, Cinepolis, SRS Cinemas, Satyam Cineplex, Wave Cinemas, E-Square and few others.

Please note that the screen count is for the HINDI VERSION only, to keep the comparison fair. Regional versions of films like Dhoom 3, Krrish 3 have managed to release on around 300 screens.

  • Yes PVR is leading …also it bought Cinemax’s shares…

    KICK’s opening prediction:28.5crs
    I underestimated it…

Screen count matters but not that much…if people don’t come out in numbers, what will huge screen count do???
Holiday released on healthy no. of screens but still could’nt perform on opening day due to less buzz as compared to ek villain…

I think KICK will find difficult to cross CE’s record…

  • Bollywood ke baap aakhir Aamir aur Salman hi hain …
    hoping
    first 3000 screens salman ETT
    first 4000 screens salman kick
first 5000 screens salman bharagranji bhainjaan
hoping Kick will first film to cross 40 Cr

  • It doesn’t matter how much screens, as with double to triple num of screens, Salman could not beat 3Idiots lifetime yet. Shame!

  • kick releasing on 700 screens overseas but still kick will TRY to chase ETT…
if srk or aamir movie released it will chase dhoom 3……

  • First let Salman break 3 idiots record!!! Don’t dream to much.all is media hype due to marketing department pumping huge money.

  • @Navin uncle
I am not that insecure n weak that i will create a fake id to attack you,i believe in head to head encounter…i don’t know who is paglapur ka navin or other fake ids..you can confirm it with indicine…

  • @paglapur ka navin rofl.. hilarious comment dude
on a serious note.. I wanna wid each film d screen coujt shd increase.hav heard in usa dere r 10000plus screen… its way more considering its population. hope soon wil hav dozens of multiplex n screens foh hindi version alone wil b 10000 plus in sha Allah

  • salman is always better than aamir .
3 idiots was only hit due to hirani , Bhagat , sharmans acting and family movie there is no aamir factor where as dhoom 3 was successful franchise .where as Salman always riding on his own policy and that’s why he is way better than aamir .
Aamir is riding on. Salman stardom

  • I have bought my ticket for Kick for Friday in Kuala Lumpur. I am a Malaysian of Punjabi origin. Can’t wait for Kick….

  • I hv a blind faith in chetan bhagat.his writings uv always touched the hearts of billions of people across different social strata.he cqn never go wrong.kick will definitely be a superb film.let’s keep my fingers crossed.

  • @Salman Khan and @Ace+PK
Salman and Aamir are the biggest while your secret fav SRK is on the same starpower level as Sanjay Dutt or Paresh Rawal.

  • @arjun kapoor yupp… He is the real star behind 2 states. Alia and chetan rocked in 2 states while the punjabi guy was very irritating.

  • I have booked tickets for tomorrow,i am going to watch kick because Devil uncle look like Krrish bhayya.

  • @Arjun kapoor
Kick’s script is same as that of telugu kick as far as i have read a few reviews, chetan bhagat probably has done fer minor changes of 1 or 2 sequences but the main plot is same…

  • the 4th blockbuster of 2013, YJHD is not in the top 10 list in terms of screen count… amazing business I must say

  • hoping that Kick will done 300cr first film @Srgayfan ur Aamir movie will 2nd choice .. for ur kind information baap hamesha ek hota hain 2 nahi .

  • It is good to see Indian Cinema evolving everyday :) The buzz just keeps getting better with every BIG films. All the Best to Kick Team :)

@ Arjun Kapoor – Have you seen movie “Hello” ? “One Night @ Call Center ” – Chetan Bhagat :D

  • @salman khan
You have no rights to talk about legend like Aamir khan .
If u want to fight then please fight against old star’s fans .
Aamir is legend and then salman .and haters are barking I don’t think kick will break 3 idiots .
3 idiots was masterpiece kick has to collect 400cr to match 3 idiots .
There is no matter that 3idiots in 2009 and kick 200 Cr in 2014 it is not actual issue it will be insult for legend Aamir khan .
    Please stop fighting
If u want to fight then fight against oldy

  • @babaji even chetan in an interview to telegraph Kolkata confirmed that even though the main plot is same as the original but lot of new elements have been brought in this hindi version.they hv only retained 4-5 scenes from the original and rest all are created by chetan and sajid.I don’t think nawaz’s character existed in the original and kick is much more serious film than telegu original which was more of a slapstick loud comedy.

  • The star called KRK is reviewed of kick and he saying that film will sure shot level of Himmatwaala

  • so kick is widest release ever, breaking d3 screen count, tmrw d3 also releasing in China too. dhoom macha lo kick walo.

  • @dammmnn: USA has 44000+ screens across 50 states mate!! Their largest cineplex chain called ‘Regal entertainment group’ itself has 7500+ screen count, almost same to what our hindi films release on. IRONY.. :)
