Salman Khan’s Jai Ho remains the biggest opener of 2014, followed by Gunday and this week’s release Ragini MMS 2. 2014’s biggest success, Queen, doesn’t feature in the Top 10, but has already beaten the lifetime collections of all films except Jai Ho and Gunday.
Both Madhuri Dixit films – Dedh Ishqiya and Gulaab Gang – feature in the Top 10, but both films were affected by more successful films like Yaariyaan and Queen.
Jai Ho had the widest release (3900 screens), followed by Gunday (2750 screens). The next film that could beat Jai Ho is Akshay Kumar’s Holiday, which is getting a solo release during the industry’s most lucrative non-holiday weekend (Post-IPL).

He has rarely shown ever given BBs (CE, OSO were exceptions) and ATBBs are out of his reach now. It is not surprising he fails to give blockbusters considering his starpower is low.

In fact,no film can cross 30cr on its opening day unless it is released on a Holiday or a strong franchise like d3.All the films which crossed 30cr were stylish except ce which was due to srk’s loyal fan following in multiplex

@aeeyy the darkhorse of this year will be undoubtly Holiday of Akshay, since Raajneeti every film which released post ipl weekend established in top 5 grosser club, 2010-raajneeti(3rd highest), 2011-Ready(2nd highest) 2012-Rowdy Rathore(3rd highest), 2013-Yjhd(4th highest). So if trend continues than it will become among top 5 this year. All those mentioned films get same verdict i.e. Blockbuster. And its not easy whether its franchise or simple movie to collect 30cr on non-holiday while previous best was below 20cr and second thing its not only first day but weekend of Dhoom 3 crossed 100cr (all version) in 3 days. And don’t bark for styles peoples want entertainment and Masala films get big opening than stylish flick. And all depend on actor whose film going to release that time.

May be it will be right when movie will release but as i think if collection of opening day of films are: Kick-30cr+(if holiday) Bang-2 25-28cr (if release without clash) HNY-25cr(as first day is diwali so collection will effect in evening) 4.P.k.-25cr non-holiday, 35cr(holiday) if release without clash. 5.Holiday-20cr+ 6.Singham-2 22-25cr if release on 15th aug. @aeyyy no dear its not about Masala its also depend on the holiday factor, Eid is best holiday for any film, so first Dabangg,bodyguard than Ett created first day opening record, the reason is Eid have beneficial day in India, as its a day which include festive season for Muslims so majority of Hindus is preferring to watch big movie in theatre,the next day collection are well as Muslim audiences watching the films,but in Diwali case first day collection is effected by Diwali preperation and celebration and from next day business picking tremendously, Dabangg and bodyguard were usual Masala flick but get bumper opening so as the case with Ce as Srk himself having huge popularity and according to some sources its reaches 3.7 billion and soon reach 4 billion mark. @Damnn in 2011 Singham collected 31cr on normal week so if trailer is well received than sequal and Ajay-Rohit combo is sufficient to get 20cr opening on holiday, remember Ajay was the guy who stop srk to achieve 225cr in 2012 as per complan boy @sss
