Top 10 First Day Collections of 2014: SRK reigns supreme at the box office

Happy New Year has smashed all previous records for 2014’s highest opening day collections by a huge margin. The collections of the Farah Khan film is 40% more than the second best Singham Returns. The film has also collected about 63% more than Bang Bang and 70% more than Kick.

Released on one of the best days of the year for film business, Happy New Year has more than doubled the collections of Jai Ho.

King Khan has reigned supreme at the box office yet again.

  • Holiday - 11.95 cr

  • Managed to watch HNY yesterday’s late night show and believe me I completely loved it :)
    First half was totally awesome and I saw the audiences totally connected with the movie. If I had to rate HNY on the basis of first half I would have gone with 4.5/5 ;)
    Second half was a bit lengthy and sometimes it seemed to be losing the track, but overall it’s a complete entertainer. I would go with 3.5/5 and I request all of you to give a watch at least once. You will never be disappointed that’s my promise.
    @indicine: With your review you literally shown that why you are the best. You liked the movie and you rated HNY based on that instead of going into technical details. Take a bow!!! That’s why a normal movie lover feels him/herself connected with your site as if someone wants to watch a movie, he doesn’t need all technical details and loopholes of the movie. At the end of the day he would be concerned only about whether the movie is entertainer or not. And this should be the only criteria for every trade side to rate a movie. For technical deepness and loopholes, critics are sitting there and they knows their job very well. Thanks again indicine:)

    Prelogue :-
    Entered the theatre with huge expectations bcoz of track record of srk-farah combo. And guess what , they have hit d bulls eye.
    Review :-
    There are 2 types of comedies — one slapstick comedy n other straight faced comedy. U need to enjoy slapstick comedy by ‘keeping ur brains at home’ and hny 1 st half is all about slapstick enjoyment.
    The pace of the 1st half is smooth. The gags and jokes work out as there are laughs in the theatre. 1st half of hny is a huge winner and the best of recent times as far as enjoyment is concerned.
    Srk and farah manages to keep the audience entertained.
    2nd half takes times to stabilize. But once it gathers momentum , thers no stoping it. Remember the song ‘all is in the well , if end is in the well’ means climax is the soul of the movie. And team hny has got a big thumbs up as far as climax is concerned.
    (literally saw people clapping n standing at the climax).
    End credits also keeps audience in theatres for a while after the movie ends.
    Thumbs down :-
    1) people moving out whenever any song started, means music is let down.
    2) ungli trailer not attached.
    3) slapstick comedy might not work with a few(but who cares, film is grander)
    4) didn’t like deepika’s accent.
    Thumbs up:-
    1) srk , junior bacchan
    2) grand production.
    3) location and sets.
    4) srk’s abs work big time.
    5) pk teaser.
    Conclusion :-
    Its an out and out srk- farah extravaganza. Srk proves why he is the king of hearts of the people.
    Box office :-
    Film will surpass all records left,right,centre. All the records will be blown to pieces. Even pk
    has to be a brilliant film if it has to surpass hny.

  • so now as the final collections are out to be nearly 45 crore so now many people who were disappointed yesterday that the collections are less than 40 crore will now be satisfied and will not whine about the exaagratted figures. :P
