  • Alright!! So, here comes the best 10 Hindi movies of 2016. ( This list is solely based on my choice! It may differ from person to person. )
Well, 2016 was surely not as good as 2015 in terms of delivering quality movies of multiple genres like Bajirao Mastani(Period drama), Piku(Soft-hearted comedy drama), NH10 & Badlapur(revenge drama), Tanu Weds Manu returns & Dum Laga Ke Haisa(Rom-Com), Talvaar(crime thriller), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (a well-intentioned Masala) and so on!!!
Most of the good movies in 2016 were based on real stories and somehow sports ! There were a few movies which couldn’t make into my list, but certain things about them have stayed with me. I really loved the beautiful cinematography and praise worthy BGM in Fitoor, the supremely impressive Randeep Hooda in Sarabjit ,SRK in Fan, Ritika Singh and R. Madhavan in Saala Khadoos and the three leads in Ae Dil Hai Muskil. #TheBest10Movies:
    10. MS Dhoni: The Untold Story :
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, MS Dhoni:The Untold Story doesn’t maintain its momentum in the second half with diverting elements like 2-3 love tracks, a bit over-stretched love sequences and so on . The movie gets overlong in the end. But despite its flaws, the movie feels satisfactory as a whole thanks to the very engaging first half and the terrific performances particularly by the main lead, Sushant Singh Rajput.
    9. Sultan:
Well, to be honest, I didn’t have much expectations from this Ali Zafar project looking at his past records. But guess what? It proved me wrong. Salman was at his best in the movie. Anushka was impressive as Arfa. The script was pretty well-written! I just wish the wrestling scenes would have been shown in more details as in Dangal. The climax was a bit unconvincing too. The movie somehow felt a bit overlong too. But no one can deny that Sultan was entertaining which is what it meant to be.
    8. Udta Punjab:
Director Abhishek Chaubey amazingly showed the drugs menace in a state and the way humanity gets degraded by it.. All the four leads were fantastic in their roles. Alia delivered an award winning performance in the movie !!
    7. Nil Battey Sannata:
“Jab Jaago, tab savera”! Based on the desire of a housemaid to educate her daughter so that she can become a well established person in the society, the light hearted drama feels simple and sweet, yet poignant!
    6. Airlift:
Well, For me, Airlift is the best Akshay Kumar movie of this decade. Akki impresses with his terrific performance. After watching the movie, I was left with a genuine smile on my face.. It made me feel proud as well as happy!
    5: Aligarh:
Based on the real life of a gay professor, Aligarh allows Manoj Bajpayee to deliver such a performance which feels natural, genuine and moving! You may root for his character while watching the movie.
    4. Neerja:
Watched twice, cried twice! Based on the the life of the brave Neerja Bhanot who gave up her life to save people, Neerja touches each and every corner of heart. Sonam was simply fabulous in her role.
    3. Kapoor & Sons:
There’s a lot to like about this Shakun Batra film, be it the genuinely tense climax or the full of life Grandpa, played by Rishi Kapoor or the superb performances by the actors particularly by Ratna Pathak, Rajat Kapoor and Fawad Khan. This movie is going to stay with me for a long time!
    2. Dangal:
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is a solid final for 2016! Amir Khan was brilliant as Mahavir Singh Phogat, so was Pharima Sana Saikh as Geeta Kumari. The guy who has played Geeta’s cousin character was hilarious and brought some real fun. The wrestling sequences were eye-catching and realistic. The screenplay was spot on!
    1. Pink:
“NO.” is not just a word, it’s a sentence itself. When a woman says “NO”, it means “NO”!
The consistently engaging Pink shows a dark and sad part of our society in such a way that you will root for all the three female characters like anything. The movie is genuinely moving, but it never gets manipulative, never gets dull and never gets over-the-top! I was left with a deep impression in my heart when I finished watching it!

  • This guy treats his films like a Baby..
Trust me watch his Dangal interview with komal nahta…
He gives undivided attention to his films DATS Y SUCH ATBBs…
SALman ,SRK are More Business oriented.. There attention gets divided because of BEING HUMAN and KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS

  • Water conservation is one of the most important initiatives not only for Maharashtra, not only for India, but for the entire globe!!!

Kudos to team Satyamev Jayate and the Maharashtra Government for making the initiative a success. Its their dream and mission to make Maharashtra free of water scarcity over a period of 5 years!!

BTW A soothing interesting song helps!!!

  • @just ketch : thanks!! I used to be a regular reader of indicine.. But due to lack of time, I am not that active nowadays

  • @ZYZ
Lakhs of Indian-borns live outside India. Akshay Kumar abandoned his Indian citizenship to become a Canadian citizen.
Aamir still lives in India, he is more patriotic than all those people.

  • @indicine is A big Aamir hater! He was not even mentione in this article. Honourable CM was there bt was hesitated to mention Aamir Khan name. Satyamev Jaley is Aamir khan show since 2012. I know that Aamir ki fans ni indcine ki hoob bajaey hai kuch Dino see. Tum jaisa Ghatya site ki wajaseey hamesha fan wars hotey rehtey hai. Fans war mi tom logo ko Faida buhut hai. Nuqsan kuch bi nahi. Jitney log is fight mi ayegey- Indicine ko Faida hoga-financially.

Kamena site.

  • @nipun Your ranking is good but description of each movie is written in a very predictable way. Which makes reading it boring. You should write more interestingly and with a flair for words. Otherwise it would seem like a 5th standard boy written an essay on a movie. Try to study how Raja Sen writes a movie review. His reviews are very interesting to read.
I am not trying to criticise you but I see that you want to become a professional reviewer, so you need to establish a standard of writing which will distinguish you from the rest. Otherwise what would the difference be between your review and Taran Adarsh’s.

  • These are the types of show we need to promote-satyameve jayate so noble…
Ye big boss, zorka jhata, india pucheja sabse overactor kaun, shera ka dum are all bakwaashh
aamir reaches to common man and reflects them. Grand Salute!!!

  • @kesla amdi: thanks!
@Karan: Lol! I don’t want to be a professional reviewer. I mean why would I ? I write movie reviews just for fun.. More than Raja Sen , I prefer Masand and Anupama Chopra . I have been following @indicine’s writing since 2012-13.. But I am not blind towards anyone.. Accordingly I write my reviews in a simplistic way..
As for Taran Adarsh, he gives 4.5 * to even movies like Bodyguard and Jai ho.. Don’t think I will ever do that..
But I will definitely work on my writing and words and will try to make it interesting. Thanks for your feedback.

  • @Karan, u must be a joker. 5th standard boy? Like seriously? Nipun has a very good command of English Language which unfortunately u don’t. I suggest u revisit ur English class. Lol

  • @Just Ketch aka Taylor Swift
I made only two grammatical mistakes in my comment where I used ‘an’ unnecessarily and didn’t put question mark at end of the last line but your comment is just full of mistakes, so it is you who need to take a grammar class. Hypocrisy is so funny. ‘LOL’.
