Thumbs-up to Salman Khan

Bollywood choose to attend Sallu’s informal party in his hotel room and skip Shilpa’s birthday party hosted by IIFA.

Shilpa Shetty may be breaking new ground in the international arena but it was proved recently that her newfound international status is yet to impress Bollywood. The message came loud and clear at Shilpa’s birthday bash, hosted by IIFA, in London on Friday. Her birthday party got a big thumbs-down, while Salman Khan’s informal bash at his hotel room rocked, on the same night. For, that’s where the rest of Bollywood preferred to go.

A source present at the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) says, “I think it was one of the saddest parties I have ever been to. We got the invite of the party along with all the invites for the IIFA events, which included the premiere of the awards and even the cricket match. However, I was shocked that I couldn’t see any familiar faces in the crowd. Even Shilpa who came with her parents left her own birthday party in 10 minutes flat!”

The only two Bollywood guests included Lara Dutta and Metro director Anurag Basu. However, Lara Dutta too reportedly walked out of the party in less than two minutes. Producer Vashu Bhagnani did not even enter the venue, he left from the gate itself. Shilpa’s mentor Ratan Jain who gave her her first break in Baazigar went to the party only to leave in few minutes.

Meanwhile, most Bollywood actors were seen at Hotel Queens where Salman held his private party. Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Chunky Pandey, Arjun Rampal, Lara Dutta (who went there after a cursory appearance at Shilpa’s bash) and girlfriend Katrina Kaif were seen partying in Salman’s room. They were clearly were in no mood to attend the party hosted by the IIFA for Shilpa Shetty at County Arcade.

Former boyfriend, Akshay Kumar chose to rehearse for his rap act with Rhythm Dhol Bass (RDB) and gave the party a miss, while cricketers Azhar and Kapil Dev preferred to chilling out in their respective rooms after the cricket match, instead of partying.

The rest of the people there, like Saif Ali Khan, Emraan Hashmi, Geeta Basra, Ritesh Deshmukh, Firoz Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Manmohan Shetty, Ramesh Sippy, Randhir Kapoor, Dia Mirza chose to give Shilpa’s birthday party a miss too.
