The Shaukeens has taken a decent start at the box office on Friday. Given the star cast of the film (Akshay Kumar only makes a special appearance), The Shaukeens has released on nearly 1900 – 2000 screens, which is higher than most medium-budget films released this year. It should cross the 5 crore mark if it evening / night shows hold up.
The all-India average occupancy in the morning was around 25%, which has picked up to around 30-35% in the noon. Exhibitors are confident that the film will pick up towards the end of the day, as the initial reports from theatres is good.
The other film Rang Rasiya has opened to empty houses on limited number of screens and shows. The film is a non-starter at the box office and will struggle through the weekend.
The big competition for ‘The Shaukeens’ will be from Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ which enters its third weekend today. At multiplexes, ‘The Shaukeens’ has significantly higher number of shows as compared to ‘Happy New Year’, so it will be interesting to compare the weekend business of the two films. Will the family audience prefer ‘Happy New Year’ over ‘The Shaukeen’s or will it be the other way round? A lot will depend on the word-of-mouth that the Abhishek Sharma film carries.
Flop. Akshay needs to stop doing these types of movies and do like Rwody Rathore, Houseful and HOLIDAY
Oh Yes ! Rang Rasiya has opened to empty houses .. seems like finally we have a movie which can break the ‘all time disaster’ record of our bhai’s film ‘Marigold’ which earned 40 lakhs in its entire run.

Good movie
HNY has held up firmly in the second week. The only other movie that has managed collections in this range is Kick. The SRK starrer has now netted around 193cr. It is pretty much expected to cross the 200cr this weekend.
The shaukeens will have a good turnout in the evening shows..plus it will show good enough growth over the weekend to ensure the film a hit status..
As for happy new year, it will cross 200 crores by the end of this week
it will be great movie going to watch it this evening can,t wait.

@Ak we bhai fans know the truth that ‘Yeh Lamhe Judai Ke’ relased after 10 years since it was shot due some financial problems of producer .. even when it released no one was aware about it because it hardly released in limited screen but it still earned 50 lakhs. at that time & was only ‘flop’. but we still spread false news & try to defame SRK.
