According to a leading daily, Neeraj Pandey, the director of ‘A Wednesday’ and ‘Special 26’, has finalised a film on cricket icon Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Sushant Singh Rajput has reportedly been cast in the lead role.
The story unveils the life of a young man from Ranchi who scales great heights to win India its World Cup trophy. Sources report that Sushant did meet Dhoni before he departed for his New Zealand tour.
The female lead of the film has not been decided upon as yet. But close sources disclose that Shraddha Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are the probable stars to be approached for the role of Sakshi, Dhoni’s wife.

At present, Sushant is busy with Dibaker Banerjee’s next film in which he plays the role of Byomkesh Bakshy. According to sources, the young actor is very much excited on being cast in the film.
Sources report that Mahendra Singh Dhoni had approved the film. Sushant is keen on doing the role and has been reportedly studying the cricketer’s mannerisms and other facets of his personality by watching his matches and interviews. He has also visited Ranchi, the hometown of Dhoni to glean more information on him.
Neeraj Pandey’s film will commence shooting in early 2015.
Is it necessary to make a film on dhoni? ?i don’t think so. .dyan chand would be a better choice. He didn’t get much credit from the nation . .dhoni is very much popular. .everyone knows about him.

I think its not right time to make movie on MSD as he is still in business strongly but anyhow he is remarkable player who contribute a lot to Indian cricket, Sushant has definitely great line up ahead.lets see how he made his mark with these films
Dhoni is a very good player but not as great compared to Sachin, Sourav, Rahul, VVS Laxman, Anil Kumble . Because these people are legends so i think movies should be made first on these idols and then it can be made in Dhoni that’s a personal opinion . @ Nipun I completely agree with you Dhyan Chand was a legend who was the first person to take India on a global level in Sports . When Sachin was awarded the Bharat Ratna then Milkha Singh said that before Sachin Dhyan Chand should be awarded Bharat Ratna because he took Indian sports to a global level .

I think a film on either Sachin Tendulkar (Greatest Cricketer of all-time) or Major Dhyan Chand (Greatest Hockey Player of all-time) should be made first, both of them have contributed a lot to India. What is the need of a biopic on Dhoni if he’s still playing cricket, wouldn’t it be better after his retirement? But, its the film industry, and as they say, “Jo Dikhta Hai, Wahi Bikta Hai”.

There are many greater Indian legends to the game of Cricket than Dhoni but to all those commenting here, that before making a biopic of Dhoni, movies should be made on legends like Sachin..Every movie needs an interesting storyline and Dhoni’s life has got it already. Once belonging to a poor family, the story of a person from being a ticket collector to a national icon Dhoni’s life has everything. A little love part based on her better half shakshi, from being a footballer to a cricketer, that’s all the perfect spices required for a good movie.
