Sultan crosses 200 crore, beats 3 Idiots and Happy New Year

Salman Khan’s Sultan has crossed the 200 crore mark early-evening today. The film has gone past the lifetime collections of films like 3 Idiots and Happy New Year. The 7-day collections of the film will also be quite close to the Hindi version business of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, as Sultan has remained rock-steady on Tuesday.

Sultan is also the first film in the history of the Hindi film industry to cross 200 crore in its first week. Even after adjusting for inflation, no film would’ve crossed 200 crore net by the end of Week 1, making Sultan the fastest money-spinner of all time.

The film is already the 8th highest grosser and should eventually beat Dhoom 3 to become the 3rd highest grosser ever. The 300 crore mark and surpassing Bajrangi Bhaijaan are possibilities, depending on the kind of growth the film manages to show on Saturday and Sunday.

The industry surely has come a very long way from the time when 3 Idiots became the first Hindi film to cross the 200 crore mark – a record was broken nearly 4 nearly after its release by Chennai Express.

Note to our readers: There won’t be a late-night update or early estimate today as the hold is normal. We request you not to wait for a update.

  • make as much records as u can…KING KHAN will with one movie & will thrash each n every record..
like he did with Chennai Express

  • in 7 days itself SULTAN makes it’s presence in Top 10 highest grossers…. FANTASTIC RUN !!!!

  • Sultan also accomplished the unthinkable by crossing 80% of his own classics like Heroes, Saavan, God Tussi Great Ho (which lost a clash against newcomer Ranbir), London Dreams, Lucky – No Time For Love, Yuvvraj, a huge list of craps. The all time classic Marigold was surpassed within hours of it’s first day.
Bhai is the epitome of greatness.
    #Kaali

  • Some Srk fans comparing Hny to Sultan i mean seriously ? ? Guys There is big difference between these movies. Happy New Year was like “WTF was that?” and Sultan actually left you inspired to fight against yourself to succeed ! A Great Acting Performance by Salman Khan !

  • 200 CR in 7 days is a huge achievement . I still remember when ETT did 100 CR in 5 days flat I was completely shocked and surprised . The way Sultan is doing it should be the 3rd Highest Grosser after PK and BB . It can still do 300 CR but for that it has to maintain well in the next 4 days and show a great jump on Saturday and Sunday . Sultan will be Salman’s 8th Blockbuster in this decade . Sultan is Salman’s 6th Blockbuster on Eid and 3rd Consecutive BB in the last 3 years with Kick, BB and now Sultan . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note : CE was released on Eid 2013 and became an ATBB . Salman did not had any release in 2013 . Cheers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Congrats Lolman for adding another crap in your long list of Bhojpuri masterpiece s- Mariold, Main aur Mrs Non-actor, Prem Bartan Dhone Aayo and many more.

  • @chain smoker:

He is not a give a 80cr grosser (eg- billu 2) but you loongiwalas are dreaming of breaking SULTAN’s record…Hahaha.

  • Why there is so much hurrying in presenting this article & saying sultan crossed 200cr….u could hv done this article tomorrow after having final collections ……..mark my words sultan will never cross 275cr…..

  • Since SULTAN was declared haters have been calling it crap, gundey 2, mbkd 2, Marigold, non acting and blah blah blah. Now eager to know their view on its super succes. Will they call it now a Ali Abbas Jafar/Randeep Hooda movie (just like they did for Bajrangi Bhaijaan by calling it Nawajuddin/Harshali movie)???
