Most successful Bollywood Actors: 2010 – 2015

Following up on yesterday’s ‘Most Successful Actors between 2000 and 2009‘, we have the list of actors that were most successful in the current decade. 2016 releases haven’t been included while calculating the figures because a lot of big stars like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh haven’t had a release so far this year.

  • Arjun Kapoor - 54.8 crore
  • Emraan Hashmi – 39.7 crore
  • Shahid Kapoor – 33.4 crore

Success Ratio i.e Above Average or better  (probably the most important, because it’s the percentage of films that recovered investment)

  • Shah Rukh Khan - 100%
  • Varun Dhawan – 100%
  • Salman Khan – 90%
  • Aamir Khan – 75%
  • Hrithik Roshan – 67%
  • Ranbir Kapoor – 50%
  • Arjun Kapoor – 50%

  • Ajay Devgn – 39%
  • Emraan Hashmi - 36%
  • Akshay Kumar – 33%
  • Shahid Kapoor – 20%

Blockbuster Ratio (this was worth pointing out, simply because the difference between actors is huge!)

  • Salman Khan – 70%
  • Aamir Khan – 50%
  • Ranbir Kapoor – 25%
  • Hrithik Roshan – 17%
  • Shah Rukh Khan – 14%
  • Emraan Hashmi – 14%
  • Ajay Devgn – 11%
  • Akshay Kumar – 5%

In conclusion, it’s quite clear that the decade so far has belonged to Salman Khan. Veer had to be included in the list because it released after 2010 and that hurt his success ratio. Apart from that, Jai Ho missed out on a ‘hit’ verdict. Those two films aside, he hasn’t put a foot wrong. Salman has a 70% blockbuster ratio i.e 7 out of his 10 films were blockbusters or better. This record, in itself, is better than every other stat that we’ve mentioned and we had to include it simply because no other actor has probably achieved it before. It’s hard to describe how huge it is, because his blockbuster count is almost the same as all other actors combined! His 10 films have also collected about 200 crore more than Akshay Kumar’s 21 films!

Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest surprise here. Between 2010 and 2015, he hasn’t had a film that has been completely rejected. No film has failed to cross the 200 crore worldwide mark either (of course, Fan hasn’t, but that film was this year). He and Varun Dhawan are the only actors with a 100% success ratio. Shah Rukh’s hit ratio is the highest too, not too bad for a man who’s supposedly going through a career low?! It’ll be interesting to see how the next 5 years pan out for him.

Aamir Khan missed out with Dhobi Ghat and Talaash, but hit the ball out of the park with Dhoom 3 and PK. He does very few films, but those few have worked big. Ajay Devgn’s box office performance was much improved as compared to the previous decade, quite a few of his films have done well.

Hrithik has been consistent, good success ratio, great average per film.. Kites and Guzaarish were his big failures. He needs to up the ante a bit and do more films.

Akshay Kumar tops the ‘number of films’ list once again, he’s easily been the most prolific. His average, which was in the mid-70s until the end of 2015, has also improved with his two releases in 2016. His choice of films is making a difference at the ticket window.

The younger stars like Varun, Arjun, Sidharth, Ranbir and Ranveer have had great starts to their career. Their success ratio is very high compared to the first few years of actors who made their debuts in the 90s. It shows that they take each of their films very seriously. Special mention for Varun, he’s been terrific. The very fact that a film like ‘Dilwale’ has been his biggest box office disappointment, says a lot about his career so far. ‘Dishoom’ will be a test.

Emraan hasn’t had a bad decade, he was doing well in the beginning, but has faltered in the last 3-4 years. Shahid has been very poor, way too many failures against his name.

  • if u will give khans and hritik solo festive release ,they always break records
for eg – first aamir made record in x-mas by 3 idiots which was broken by srk in eid (ce) and chennai expres’s record was broken by hritik on diwali (k3) ,then his record was broken by dhoom 3 and then by p.k in cristmas
so real test is who will give first 200 cr. without festivals

  • I think it would have been better if you guys had published this article at the end of the year. This year might be making a huge difference in the list.

Ranbir has chances of picking up his career with his first festive release ADHM.

For Ajay, it is an opportunity to create another magic after Singham Returns with Shivaay.

Akshay had 2 of his worst years during 2010-11. 2016 has been a big improvement for him.

SRK’s first flop this decade FAN is a big affect in his list.

For youngsters Varun, Arjun, Sid and Ranveer, it will be interesting to watch out where they stand this year.

  • Considering the amount of films Salman has done he is the only one with consistence of giving 100cr+ film, thats what you call stardom, even his under perfomer has done more than other actors some of there biggest grossers.

  • LOL

    are you Mad
how can you Add DG in Aamir filmography it’s cameo. too many mistakes. plz check it.

  • Aamir success ratio – 100%

    PK – ATBB
    D3 – ATBB
    Talaash – semi-hit

Average per film 220cr per film

    Hit ratio 100%

    Blockbuster ratio – 75% ATBB

  • Yes This 5 yrs totally belongs to SALMAN KHAN no doubt! BO wise He was phenomenal!

Most disappointed with SRK ,His movies were not up to the mark and that reflected in his BO report card. Had high expectations from Fan :/

AAMIR KHAN was phenomenal too 183cr avg per movie that’s incredible??

even HRITHIK ROSHAN ‘s performance is too Good, MohenjoDaro can be a game changer for him If MohenjoDaro becomes a blockbuster than He will be in the top 3 replacing Srk. & Yes MohenjoDaro will rock Big Time

Despite some Good movies can’t understand why AKSHAY KUMAR can’t Hit Big in BO, content wise his recent movies are incredibly great actor!

@ indicine Akshay Kumar did 24 films from 2010-till….
so pls include also 2016 movie also.

  • Now can Akki bhagts believe that Varun Dhawan,Ranbir,Ranveer,Arjun is better than their superstar ???

Nhi na bhai ? Akki is much bigger brand then this kids.its all about how you act a role properly. Even salman khan is far away from acting.. If u believe in quality then you have to view Bollywood without collections…
Bhakts bashing Ajay Devgn for his failures and low collection movies but they dont want to see the guy who can actually act..indicine should make a list so every knows stars belonging even i know if they gong to make a list they must be add col and so called ratings too..
At last all i want to say support Good cinema dont care about collections just enjoy every movie..
Akki can act like Ajay but he is not on that level

  • This decade, Sultan Salman Khan rules supreme in Bollywood. He is the BO numero uno. He will continue to do so until 2020.

  • where is my 2nd fav Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh
he will b the next mega star with 200% success
    ratio…
    .

  • Aamir khan had extended cameo like srk in billu. hypocrite indicine.
but you are added DG in Aamir film but Not for Srk. hypocrite

  • @Indicine analyses BO in the way that they can show SRK, in a way or another, at a top position.
Going by their analysis, Varun Dhawan also has 100% success ration. Hence, he is equal to SRK in stardom. Agree?

  • Only ranbir rules
B.o. does n’t matter for me
    I want another barfi …tamsha….rockstar ….yjhd role

  • How can a flop Jha Two be called as successful movie ?? If it’s possible then Jai Ho was blockbuster,Veer was superhit..salute to your dumb logic..

  • @Indicine
Let’s Include “Fan” &remove “Dhobi Ghat” then Compare
    Amir ->
    Success ratio = 100%
    Hit ratio = 67%
    Salman ->
    Success ratio = 90%
    Hit ratio = 80 %
    Srk ->
    Success ratio = 88%
    Hit ratio = 75%
    @Indicine
there is nothing Bad in it that your are Srk fan atleast those who made such articles Bcoz why Dhobi Ghat got included in Amir’s stats as that was a cameo not even Supporting role? Why Fan is not included in Srk’s stats as it changes the whole Scenario? Why Airlift & HF3 are not inluded in Akshay stats?
still no one is perfect and you people have done good deeds also but nonetheless you are a FAN (of Srk).

  • This is ridiculous. You are adding an arthouse film like Dhobighat to Aamir’s films!

Such kind of unprofessionalism is not expected from Indicine. This article is shameful.

  • Stars like Varun, SRK, Siddarth Malhotra, Fawad Khan bhi Hits dete hain. Par Megastars like Salman and Aamir give Super Hits, BBs and ATBBs. Know the differences!!!
Having said that, another ATBB in the form of Sultan is to rock the nation this Eid.

  • * Success Ratio
    Shah Rukh Khan – 100%
    Varun Dhawan – 100%
    Salman Khan – 90%
    Aamir Khan – 75%

    * Hit Ratio
    Shah Rukh Khan – 86%
    Varun Dhawan – 83%
    Salman Khan – 80%

LOL when u realise SRK’s bad phase is better than Salmon’s good phase …!

  • At the till date….from 2010 …. Akshay Kumar has 1900 cr overall.

So who is saying that for star dom only collection matter. then Akshay Kumar is far far bigger than all superstar.
salman comes 2nd, srk at 3rd. if u include 2016 too.

  • you’ve written hit ratio means hit or better..then mnik,ra one, dilwale weren’t hits..so on which basis srk’s hit ratio is 86%..I salute indicine for their mathematics skills

  • Come on

OK I will write it again .

@Aisha Even In Akshay kumars So called Bad phase His Average is 77 while Ajay devgans Average is just 59 in HIS BEST PHASE.
Even Ajay best phase is lower than Akshayz down face !

    This shows .
Ajay is no where near to Akshay. Far far behind. That’s it ?
