Most successful Bollywood Actors: 2010 – 2015

Following up on yesterday’s ‘Most Successful Actors between 2000 and 2009‘, we have the list of actors that were most successful in the current decade. 2016 releases haven’t been included while calculating the figures because a lot of big stars like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh haven’t had a release so far this year.

The analysis does have quite a few surprises! Read on..

  • Arjun Kapoor - 54.8 crore

Success Ratio i.e Above Average or better  (probably the most important, because it’s the percentage of films that recovered investment)

  • Shah Rukh Khan - 100%
  • Varun Dhawan – 100%
  • Salman Khan – 90%
  • Aamir Khan – 75%
  • Hrithik Roshan – 67%

  • Arjun Kapoor – 50%
  • Sidharth Malhotra – 50%
  • Ranveer Singh - 50%
  • Ajay Devgn – 39%
  • Emraan Hashmi - 36%
  • Akshay Kumar – 33%
  • Shahid Kapoor – 20%

Blockbuster Ratio (this was worth pointing out, simply because the difference between actors is huge!)

  • Salman Khan – 70%
  • Aamir Khan – 50%
  • Ranbir Kapoor – 25%
  • Hrithik Roshan – 17%
  • Shah Rukh Khan – 14%
  • Emraan Hashmi – 14%
  • Ajay Devgn – 11%
  • Akshay Kumar – 5%

In conclusion, it’s quite clear that the decade so far has belonged to Salman Khan. Veer had to be included in the list because it released after 2010 and that hurt his success ratio. Apart from that, Jai Ho missed out on a ‘hit’ verdict. Those two films aside, he hasn’t put a foot wrong. Salman has a 70% blockbuster ratio i.e 7 out of his 10 films were blockbusters or better. This record, in itself, is better than every other stat that we’ve mentioned and we had to include it simply because no other actor has probably achieved it before. It’s hard to describe how huge it is, because his blockbuster count is almost the same as all other actors combined! His 10 films have also collected about 200 crore more than Akshay Kumar’s 21 films!

Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest surprise here. Between 2010 and 2015, he hasn’t had a film that has been completely rejected. No film has failed to cross the 200 crore worldwide mark either (of course, Fan hasn’t, but that film was this year). He and Varun Dhawan are the only actors with a 100% success ratio. Shah Rukh’s hit ratio is the highest too, not too bad for a man who’s supposedly going through a career low?! It’ll be interesting to see how the next 5 years pan out for him.

Aamir Khan missed out with Dhobi Ghat and Talaash, but hit the ball out of the park with Dhoom 3 and PK. He does very few films, but those few have worked big. Ajay Devgn’s box office performance was much improved as compared to the previous decade, quite a few of his films have done well.

Hrithik has been consistent, good success ratio, great average per film.. Kites and Guzaarish were his big failures. He needs to up the ante a bit and do more films.

Akshay Kumar tops the ‘number of films’ list once again, he’s easily been the most prolific. His average, which was in the mid-70s until the end of 2015, has also improved with his two releases in 2016. His choice of films is making a difference at the ticket window.

The younger stars like Varun, Arjun, Sidharth, Ranbir and Ranveer have had great starts to their career. Their success ratio is very high compared to the first few years of actors who made their debuts in the 90s. It shows that they take each of their films very seriously. Special mention for Varun, he’s been terrific. The very fact that a film like ‘Dilwale’ has been his biggest box office disappointment, says a lot about his career so far. ‘Dishoom’ will be a test.

Emraan hasn’t had a bad decade, he was doing well in the beginning, but has faltered in the last 3-4 years. Shahid has been very poor, way too many failures against his name.

    Akshay Kumar – 21 films
    Ajay Devgn – 18 films

    Akshay Kumar – 1475 crore
    Ajay Devgn – 1072 crore

    Akshay Kumar – 48%
    Ajay Devgn – 44%

    see the differences.

Akshay also collects 2nd best after Only behind Salman Khan.

  • @indicine please tell how much so called global star has paid you to post this???
SALMAN KHAN has done 9 films since 2010
Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg2, Jai Ho, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan & Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
Out of which 2 are All time Blockbusters (Dabangg & Bajrangi Bhaijaan)
5 are Blockbusters (Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2 & Kick)
1 is Super-Hit (Prem Ratan Dhan Payo)
1 is Above Average (Jai Ho)
So, the success ratio should be 100% (All films are Above Average or Better)
& Hit Ratio should be 88.89% (Hit or Better)
    8/9*100 = 88.888888888_____% (Approx. 88.89%)
Shame on you indicine, wasn’t expecting this cheap article from you…

  • If 2016 would be added than Akshays overall collection will come above salman….! And I doubt that you haven’t added OMG in Akshays account. If not than it should be added as he promoted it on various reality shows as his movie . NOT Fair.

  • This shows how Ranbir Kapoor is lambi race ka ghoda. My most favourite actor after SRK sir. I also admire Akki.

  • Akshay Kumar’s average collection per movie is 77.6 cr with four release.

    which means 77.6 × 4 = 310.4 cr every year.

king will be always remains as king.

  • It’s quite ironic, border line funny how a pathetic actor like Salman Khan can be star !! In some ways inspiring to all, acting & stardom don’t necessary go hand-2-hand.

  • God of Indian Box Office
    the mighty of all
    the megastar
    the man himself
the demi god of bollywood movie lovers
    the khan of all seasons
the one & only “star” among so called stars
    Salman Khan

  • salman is even not comparable with other actors(except aamir) b/w 2010-2015
but his real test of stardom will happen when he will come out of festivals

  • number of blockbusters

    salman 11

    srk 8

    aamir 7

    ajay 3

    emraan 3

    akshay 2

rest all r deepika created , alia helped and dharma lifted stars.. i feel shame to even take there names becoz they r filled with nepotism !

  • Ha ha, Indicine why did u include Blockbuster Ratio here …?

U didn’t include it in 2000-2009 article . Why ? Becoz Bhai would then be at 1 Blockbuster only (that too not solo film) , while SRK will be at 4 Blockbusters .

  • @Indicine
the point is not about Success ratio of Srk,the point is that a HIT verdict on Festives for KHAN’s = flop in Real,it should be atleast SuperHit.Similarly Average movie on Non-Holiday for them = flop & flop = disaster. It’s for all. AND if we Include Fan then Srk is way behind Salman in every stat in this Decade.
Nevertheless I must appreciate you as what a move by you not to Include Fan.

  • King Khan all the way… It’s his dull phase. Now think what would have been the results if it was his normal phase. Most successful story of the Bollywood. Nobody can ignore that. Desperately waiting for his strong comeback.
