Superstar Akshay Kumar recently revealed that he was inspired by the phrase “Singh Is King” which he noticed on the back of a truck, when he was driving to Jaipur.. “The title went brilliantly with the theme of our film” says the Khiladi Kumar, who after 4 back-to-back hits suffered a disaster in the form of Tashan, although his performance in the movie was appreciated.
But how did the ‘King’ become ‘Kinng’? Laughs the man behind superhits like Waqt and Namastey London, Vipul Shah, “As a Producer I have my film’s interest to take care of. We need success at any cost. My view has always been that whatever can be done to better the vibes of the film or add to the ‘luck’ factor should be done. So very simply, the extra N is only to bring it numerologically to an auspicious number.”
Commenting on the Hindi Film Industries belief in numerology, he adds, “As Indians, don’t we do this all the time? Whether it’s while buying a car, striking a deal or Grihapravesh, we always look for auspicious dates or lucky charms, don’t we? So as a Producer I’m looking for auspicious signs for my film!”
Singh Is Kinng will hit theatres worldwide on Friday, August 8th 2008 with preview shows in select locations on August 7.
Singh is Kinng is an Indian Films - Studio 18 release.
