SRK’s Happy New Year delayed!

Happy New Year to be directed by Main Hoon Na – Om Shanti Om director Farah Khan has been delayed indefinitely, according to industry sources. So what’s the reason?

– Shahrukh Khan’s shoulder (post surgery) is yet to completely heal and the actor is currently involved with his Knight Riders.

– My Name Is Khan has been delayed due to SRK’s shoulder, the shooting for which is in progress.

– SRK will be starring in a superhero film to be directed by Anubhav Sinha titled Ra 1, before he begins shooting for Happy New Year.

The good news though is, the ambitious Ra 1 will release in the first half of next year. Shahrukh who usually makes it a point to have 3 releases every year, had just one release in 2008 (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi), will have just one release in 2009 (My Name Is Khan) and one release next year (Ra 1).

  • Shahrukh is doing one movie every year, so does Hrithik & Aamir Khan.

Means movies for superstars in every year isn’t more than 3-4 movies! I assume Sailf Ali Khan took the same decision too..not to do lots of movies and we didn’t see him in any movie after Race. Quality movies need time but each one of these top actors could do 2 movies in a year for the audience.

If My Name is Khan will be released by end of the year as well as Kites in October, and nothing for Aamir or Saif so far.. so that means there’re no good movies for us to watch at cinema in the coming 5 months except one for Akshay which is a commercial movie and don’t know if it’s a good or a bad one!

Even the movie “New York” has been delayed although I saw the trailer in cinema 3 months ago!

We don’t go to cinema to watch small movies.. small ones could be watched on dvds or online.

Why is this happening in 2009?!!!

  • My reply is to Fathiya. I dont care if a movie has Akshay. Amir, SRK or Hrithik in it. There are many good movies released lately Like wednesday, shoot to kill, iqbal, sajjanpur etc with no big names in them. I fail to understand why people r hell bent on making the rich stars richer while nobody wants to recognise the talent & potential of young new commers !

  • Neil: I think u didn’t get my point.. it’s not that I don’t watch small budget movies.. no.. I watched “Aamir” and loved it.. saw it twice, I saw A Wednesday but honestly.. I didn’t understand this movie.. if u could answer my question: Why the terrorists should be after a common man like Naseeruddin Shah in the movie, why did they bother him.. what for? What did they want from him? Was he a government man, a politician or anything else.

My point is the following: Movies like Aamir, A Wednesday, Parzania are good to be watched on small screens.. you’d ask.. why? The answer is the following: Commercial movies which got some nice sceneries, beautiful songs, nice cinematography, special effects, etc. we enjoy watching them on big screens more, but small budget movies which hv nothing of all this and based on the story only.. these kind of movies could be watched on dvds, we don’t need to see them in cinemas, they’re fine for small screen even if they had some superstars in them.
