Released on 1586 screens across the country, Akshay Kumar’s Special 26 was off to a shockingly poor start on Friday morning, but collections improved quite significantly for the evening and night shows, especially at premium multiplexes in big cities.
The film has done well in Delhi, Mysore and Mumbai. West Bengal, Bihar, Rajasthan were poor. The Neeraj Pandey film had was poor at single-screens, where it had a limited release.
As per early estimates, the Akshay Kumar starrer has collected Rs 6 crores net on Day 1, which is decent considering the genre of the film and the release size.
Saturday and Sunday remain crucial though, as the costs of Special 26 are quite high due to Akshay’s presence.
The reports are very good and reviews have largely been positive. If the film manages to show good growth over the weekend and consolidates during the weekdays, it might have a long and steady run at the box office.
