Congress President Sonia Gandhi has personally invited Esha Deol and her husband Bharat Takhtani, to her residence 10 Janpath in New Delhi. Apparently, Hema had extended a wedding invitation to both Gandhi and the Prime Minister, but the Congress bigwigs couldn’t make it due to security issues.
“We had invited PM (Manmohan Singh) and Sonia Gandhi for the wedding. They couldn’t come due to security reasons. If it (wedding) would have been in Delhi, they would have made it. It’s a sweet gesture from Sonia Gandhi that she has sent Esha and Bharat an invite that whenever they are in Delhi, they should go to her place for lunch or dinner” said Hema Malini.
A member of the BJP, Hema was a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha between 2003 and 2009.
Esha and Bharat had a traditional south Indian wedding at the Iskcon Temple on Friday. The wedding reception was held last evening.
