Singh Saab The Great Box Office Opening

Singh Saab The GreatLike the other release this weekend, Singh Saab The Great has opened to an average response at the box office. At a few places in East Punjab and UP, the opening is outstanding as select single-screens are running to packed houses. However, when it comes to bigger cities, business is very poor.

The film is a wash-out in the Mysore circuit, with cities like Bangalore and Mangalore opening to very poor collections.

Sunny Deol is no longer the star that he once was, even in North India the opening of his films have gradually slowed down. More than a decade ago, he was as popular as the top Khans of today. In 2001, his Gadar – Ek Prem Katha took a better start than Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and eventually went on to be a bigger grosser too. In the same year, his pre-Diwali release ‘Indian’ completely out-shined Shahrukh Khan’s Asoka at the box office. Not many can claim to have won a clash with SRK!

Recently, the 57-year-old actor was quoted as saying that he is ‘desperate for a hit’. Singh Saab The Great could well be that film, as reports from the morning shows are very good. Surprisingly, even the critics have liked the film!
